Which collectible in The War Within has still managed to elude you?
If you’ve been playing World of Warcraft for any significant amount of time, you almost certainly have a catalog of white whales — items that you desperately want yet never seem to show up in the loot window. Now that we’re in the home stretch of The War Within, you may have a Khaz Algar collectible or two to add to your most wanted list.
I spent quite a bit of time on Siren Isle, so I only have two things left to acquire. I never saw the Proper Parrot pet drop from any of the pirate mobs, and I lost momentum while gathering enough miscellaneous stormy stuff to summon Thrayir, Eyes of the Siren. Neither has really been a sore spot, mostly because I learned long ago to just come back to the stuff I missed later when new content drops. I’ll be back chasing down pirates on Siren Isle once I’m ridiculously overpowered enough to crank up my parrot-chance-to-minute ratio.
Some other collectibles require more of a slow and steady strategy for players like me who have those pesky Real Life Responsibilities preventing them from maxing out each new currency slot in a matter of days. I’ve got some Horrific Visions mounts left to acquire, both by collecting more Displaced Corrupted Mementos and from random drops or puzzles. I try to drop in on the gruesome nightmare versions of Stormwind and Orgrimmar once a week or so, but my lack of void-corrupted mounts hasn’t so far caused me any real frustration.
Truly the only collectible that has been the bane of my existence in The War Within is the Dauntless Imperial Lynx. How many Lamplighter Supply Satchels have I opened? It certainly seems like hundreds. I know which Spreading the Light quests and objectives to scoff at and which will get me the next satchel quickest.
I leave Hallowfall with more Radiant Remnants than I arrive with each time — they are bulging out of every hidden pocket in my Mage robes. It feels like enough Light has been Spread by my Warband alone to overwhelm the forces of darkness across Azeroth. I even have other lynx mounts. Yet my ongoing failure to acquire this dauntless kitty has made selecting the flight path to Hillhelm Family Farm start to feel like walking into Ulduar. My brain is sure that there’s a chance that this time will be different, but my soul has stopped believing.
So which Khaz Algar collectible has you waxing poetic about the comic justice distributor that is RNG? Do you think you will have obtained it by the time Midnight launches, or will it be enshrined on the wall of your brand new Player Housing war room’s “Most Wanted” board?
