The do’s and don’ts of playing Legion Remix, now live!

Legion Remix starts on October 7 with the launch of patch 11.2.5, and though you may think you’re ready to go after playing Mists of Pandaria Remix, there have been a few changes to the Remix format since the initial run just a year ago. But we’ve been playing Remix on the PTR, and we have some tips to help you get started in Legion Remix and walk away with all the collectables you want.

With these tips, you may make Illidan proud and actually be prepared for this one. Here are our do’s and don’ts for succeeding in Legion Remix.

Do: Mine ore and pick flowers. While ore and herbs did not exist in Mists of Pandaria Remix, in Legion there are timeless herbs and ore that can offer lots of potential rewards, dropping some bronze, a good amount of Epoch essences to increase your stats, infinite power to empower your artifacts, and a chance for Artifactium Sand which is used to raise your artifact’s ilevel. In the introduction quest to the bazaar, you receive the Elixir of Remembered Sight which allows you to track herbs and ore, so use it and keep an eye out for nodes.

Don’t: Open your Caches of Infinite Treasure during the last few levels of your 70s. These levels go very fast and when you turn level 80, caches from completing quests and dailies also drop 1-2 tokens based on the current raid tier (check the phase schedule to see what the current raid is). When you combine 10 of these tokens, you’re rewarded a piece of max level gear that drops in the current max raid.

Do: Fly through lost demons. Yes, you read that right: you’ll find lost demons flying over every zone in the Broken Isles, and you want to fly through them. They’re a significant source of bronze, resources, and on occasion, loot. These demons are sometimes the objective of Eternus’s daily research quest that will provide significant bronze, infinite power, and sometimes gear. Always keep a lookout for them!

Don’t: Go to Suramar before level 80. While it the zone is available at level 45, do not go until you are max level. This is not because Suramar is hard, but mobs in Suramar only reward a miniscule amount of XP, significantly smaller than other zones. Even if you play in heroic mode, which boosts XP gains, you will still be sub 50 XP a mob at times — it’s just not worth it.

Do: Switch to heroic mode by level 80 (if you haven’t already done so). Heroic mode is available from the start, but this game mode warns you it is difficult before level 25. Some people still find it difficult after 25, but by level 80, it’s worth the risk for better drops of bronze, infinite power, Artifactium Sand, and loot. It also adds a whole new layer of fun to the Remix experience

Don’t: Wait until max level to raid. You can join LFR very early in Remix, and you gain Perfected Epoch Mementos which boost XP across your timerunning Warband by 10%  when you complete the raid. It’s an absolute must if you plan to run other characters through Remix, but it’s a tremendously good boost even if you’re just focusing on one.

Do: Every side quest and bonus objective. Besides being a great source of XP and caches, zone completion is tied to achievements that offer large quantities of bronze, Perfected Epoch Mementos, Infinite Knowledge (which boosts the amount of infinite power you gain across your Warband significantly) and exclusive transmogs like the Kaldorei Queen’s Royal Vestments, which allow your to dress as Queen Azshara.

Don’t: Hoard your Bronze. Unlike in Mists of Pandaria Remix when bronze was used for everything, Bronze is only used cosmetic items, mounts, pets, and toys. There is a cap of 500,000 and you will start seeing massive bronze increases as you engage in more end game content, so don’t be afraid to buy what you want now. A significant amount of items in the stores are held back by the raid phases, so you have plenty of time to collect what you want before having to wait for the next raid unlock.

Do: Loot bosses in dungeons and raids. There was a trick in the first Remix where people would not loot their XP bonuses during raids and would level to around 25, collect their raid bonuses from the mail and instantly hit max level. This no longer works and your uncollected items do not get mailed to you. You are only missing out if you attempt this trick.

Update: As the Remix has now been out for a few days, there have been a few tips worth noting that were not in the PTR.

When you turn level 70, return to the Bazaar and speak to Moratari and she will give you a 250% XP buff for the final 10 levels so you don’t need to drag through them at the normal 70-80 rate.

Once per day, visit Lidamorrutu, next to the scrapping forge in the Bazaar, and she will give you a piece of jewelry to help you gear up because Eternus told her to. This comes in handy on new characters as it is typically of epic quality with boosted stats and abelites.

But most of all, do have fun. Legion Remix is a great way to get missing transmog — unless you want mage tower appearances, which will not be available — as well as just have lots of fun pushing mythic 40s, but Remix will only here for a limited time and you’ll want to make the most of it! Be sure to also check out our guides on the different currencies of Remix as well as how much bronze you do need.
