Get around faster in Player Housing by visiting your friends

Player housing has joined the World of Warcraft universe to much fanfare and excitement as people join their communities in developing (and decorating) in-game homes. But did you know that those very friendships can actually help you get to your own house faster, when your player housing teleport is on cooldown? Yes, this is one time where it actually pays to make friends, because you can get around your neighborhood faster with a simple trick… and you can use it to quickly get to other neighborhoods to check out different Endeavors and vendors.

You see, you can teleport to the homes of anyone on your friends list that have houses. If you’re in the same neighborhood together (be it public or private), you can use that teleport and simply race over to your own house afterwards, easy peasy. If they’re in a different neighborhood, you can do the same to check out their neighborhood. All you need to do is right-click on that friend’s name in your list and select “View Houses.” Now, if this friend has both Horde and Alliance houses, you will need to check the dropdown — after all, you could easily teleport yourself to the wrong place. So find your particular neighborhood from among their houses and click “Visit house.”

This method does come with some pluses and minuses. It works if your friend is online or offline — it pays to be neighborly! And no, it does not trigger the cooldown for teleporting to your own house. However, using this method does not offer the handy-dandy “return to previous location” option that you have when you use your own home teleport, but still, a bonus method of neighborhood mobility is incredibly valuable.

I personally like this idea for getting within proximity of that day’s “Last Architect” decor quest; instead of dragonriding across half the map, teleport to a friend that’s right by your target! But you could easily use it to get to the quest giver as well, as long as you have a friend in proximity of your neighborhood’s central square. Or alternatively, hop to a friend’s house that’s right near the portal back to Stormwind or Orgrimmar — even if they’re in a different faction neighborhood from you, the portal will drop you off in the right city.

The neighborhood could be your oyster, so get out there and make some friends!
