In The Stone of Madness you are one of several prisoners in a monastery who want to break out. Each of the prisoners have unique strengths and weaknesses you can use to solve puzzles, but you can’t be found out. In fact, one of your companions is excellent at distracting both the guards and busybodies from the tougher work of your heavy — and your assassin. Plus, it being an insane asylum and all, making sure you stay sane by controlling your fears is a core mechanic. Hopefully, you and your companions will be able to make your way to freedom with your faculties intact. Eventually.

The gameplay looks excellent, but the handdrawn art and string-heavy score really bring this one to the next level. Make sure you pick it up for free this week!
