The Queue: Olympus, I accept this message

I’ve been playing a bunch of HADES 2 this week, and it more than lives up to the hype. I knew it would, the first one was excellent, and I’ve loved everything else that Supergiant has put out. I even have the Bastion soundtrack on a CD around here somewhere!

I don’t know what it is about sending a godling to escape the underworld that is so compelling, but the “one more run, then I’ll go be productive” is super strong in this game. Maybe it’s the music, maybe it’s the art, maybe it’s the snappy combat. Whatever it is, I know that I can’t get enough of it. Seriously, they gave me a weapon that’s some big metal claws with wings, and the wings launch rockets at my enemies — sometimes, while I’m punching those very same enemies! Is it very accurate in history? Not particularly. Is it rad as heck? Definitely. Plus how do we know for sure that there wasn’t a god roaming around ancient Greece with some badass rocket launcher wings? Maybe all of their statues were blown up… y’know, in the incident.

While I go and try out the new version of those wings that come equipped with a frickin moon “laser”, it’s time for our daily question and answer column — The Queue!

I agree, and you should start a letter-writing campaign to Blizzard to get them to fix this obviously egregious oversight. I hope someone was demoted for that blunder.

Better yet, by putting this comment here, I’ve helped more people to realize that the fans are spinning the wrong way — and now that’s all they’ll be able to see! Sometimes I use my powers for mild evil.

This is why I live somewhere where there’s still a little snow left on the ground. I don’t like big bugs, and I cannot lie. The cold keeps them small and manageable! Sure sometimes the air hurts my face, but that’s a small price to pay. Plus, I get to wear a variety of excellent sweaters!

Oh, very much. I always want to look like a cool badass while I’m playing a game. Something would have to be an absurdly big power swing to get me to give that up. I’m talking like it kills the bad guys in three hits, kind of powerful. Not the kind of thing where you’ll get an extra 1% stamina because you wore the extra ugly hat, and you’ve had to build up a thicker skin to endure the schoolyard taunts from everybody who sees you wearing it. Everybody hates that hat, and they’ll let you know — and their words are definitely sharper than your fashion sense.

Lore and story might be able to win out over aesthetics, but it’d have to be a proper good story.

It’s barely getting started! You’ve got plenty of time to catch up to everybody else! Patch 12.0.5 is just about to come out, and that’ll last for a bunch of weeks still before the next season brings a new zone and story.

So hop in and see what that dastardly Xal’atath has planned for the Sunwell.

Probably not, and if anyone asks, just say they must’ve just missed you while you were taking a bathroom break. You could also always try that trick where you leave a jacket you don’t care about on your chair to really sell the story. Besides, how much work is really getting done near the end of a Friday?

If you need a doctor’s note, I can always write you one of those, too. I’ll make up a just gross enough problem so they don’t have any follow-up questions — like wandering bladder, or stink spleen. I know that I wouldn’t have any questions if my coworker came to me and told me they were going to an appointment to deal with their stink spleen.

There’s some extra limiting going on in the background of the Vault for the Mythic loot, too — if you haven’t killed the boss on Mythic, you won’t see loot from it. Which is probably to stop you from accidentally getting your bis piece from the last boss if you just managed to clear the first three for a Mythic option.

I think that there should be an option to get something better there for filling all three boxes. If you can clear a Heroic raid, maybe you can get one option on the Mythic track. I know they’re trying to keep the raid loot as the most prestigious and most powerful, but a full set of Mythic + gear is going to be basically the same thing — just with a different weapon and trinkets.

Loosening their grip on the goods just a little couldn’t hurt.

Today’s Bacardi is looking pleased that I had to come and write the Queue, and he gets the good spot back on the couch. He promises to stock your vaults well if you’ll all let him sleep just five minutes more.
