The Queue: Hide And Seek
It would seem that, despite only playing it a couple times I’m pretty good at Decor Duel. Did you know that, if you last until 2 minutes 30 seconds, you’re permanently found with an arrow above your head until the match ends? Seems a little like a blue shell kinda thing, but what do I know, I’m just a games journalist.
This is The Queue, our daily column where you ask where are we? What the hell is going on? And we answer that it’s all for the best (of course it is).
Q4tQ Why can’t I find any of the Children’s Week quests/vendors?
While we do have a great, thorough article about Childrens Week, in Silvermoon City the vendors are located in the usual “holiday” spot: on the upper level directly across from Delves HQ, between the Trading Post and the skyriding mount customization platform.
And yes, beyond that, the only real new thing is the Nap Mat toy. You can earn all the pets, toys, appearances, all that usual holiday nonsense from years past as well.
It’s funny because I’ve barely had time to play any of it. I think I unlocked the first 2 vault slots on the Delves tier and that’s it this week (and the second slot is going to be garbage because I always do Sal’theril’s Haven). I played Abyss Anglers on PTR to write the guide, but not terribly in-depth because I didn’t want to unlock everything and then have to unlock everything again. That’s actually a huge problem with me and WoW — doing the content and then doing it again feels really bad. I’m not an alt person, and this is part of why, though the whole Warband thing makes actual alts feel considerably less bad.
The one thing I wasn’t able to do on PTR, Decor Duel, isn’t my favorite, which isn’t a surprise because it’s one of my least favorite game modes in every game that adds it. It just gets old fast — same ol hiding spots, and after a few days the only people who “win” are usually the ones who know where and how to bug out terrain rather than like, good hiding.
However, I have been playing a good bit of Hearthstone Battlegrounds, because the nature of that game means I can make my play, and then wait for the rope to burn and the gameplay to resolve itself. That’s perfect for stuff like writing up podcast posts or queuing up our social media or deleting the billion marketing emails I get sent every day — or even writing The Queue. This does kinda get in the way of my Spirit City jam, but it’s also sort of a pomodoro timer itself so it’s fine.
So, all things considered, it’s a toss up for me between Abyss Anglers and Ritual Sites. Both feel like a system I’ve played and enjoyed in the past (Dave the Diver and Delves), but streamlined in a way that also files off a little bit of the charm.
20th Anniversary next year
I never thought Felicia Day would attack me personally like this but she is a treasure (as are all The Guild castmembers) so I’ll let it slide.
