The Queue: All my other screenshots are too packed with spoilers

Wow, how about that REDACTED when REDACTED ended up REDACTED? Crazy! I love Lord of Hatred, it’s completely nuts.

RED

I wish every class in the game had a tank spec.

I wish no class in WoW had a tank spec.

Do I think there shouldn’t be tanks? Yes, but that’s not what I’m arguing because I’m fully aware I’m drunk on Diablo 4 and the way classes work there. I get that the tanking role is engraved deep into WoW and it’s not coming out any time soon. But I honestly think the best way to do this in WoW is to put specific talents in the default talent tree for each class that they can choose or not, and if they do choose these talents they gain the tools they need to perform as tanks.

As I see it, there are three things a class needs to tank successfully:

  1. The ability to output more threat than anyone else in the group. Not everyone in the entire raid combined, that’s unnecessary. But if you can consistently be #1 on threat, that’s enough to keep things hitting you over anyone else.
  2. A working Taunt and preferably another, AOE focused Taunt. You can’t rely on taunting to hold aggro, but it’s still a necessary tool for tanking.
  3. The ability to survive the role. Whether it’s the Burning Crusade era Dodge tanking, abilities that cut down how much damage you take while they’re up like Shield Block, or outright Cooldowns that serve as emergency buttons — break glass here if about to get splattered by boss ulti — the important thing is that a tank, while tanking, should be able to stay upright without making healers make that noise. You know what noise I mean, healers, don’t play dumb.

As long as a class has the means to do these three things, I don’t see why they need an entire spec dedicated to it.

JALAMENOS

Oh I’m so mad.
I found the issue and it’s only fueling my hatred for this particular system.

It’s the f-ing new transmog system.
I used the “Hide while sheathed” option on my Shaman’s weapons, and apparently this can cause the game to crash when you enter the Warband screen.
So I had to go to the “character-list-order.txt” in my WTF folder and move the Shaman from the Warband.

I don’t have this bug affecting me (especially since I’m way more invested in Diablo 4 right now) but I figured other people should know about it in case it’s affecting them so this is me signal boosting Jal’s comment.

KALCHEUS

Q4tQ Ignoring the player character intro questline, when is the earliest moment a Death Knight could’ve been created by Arthas? Are all of the original playable DKs victims of the Scourge attack before WotLK, or did Arthas raise some earlier like in the invasion of Quel’thelas or during the fighting on Northrend?

There are Death Knights training other Death Knights in Acherus, so no, not all of  the DK’s created by Arthas were from the scourge attack before Wrath.I’d expect that not all DK’s created by Arthas would even be dated back to the original Scourge events that preceded Naxxramas during the original launch of World of Warcraft, because Naxx already had four powerful Death Knights in that version of the raid as well as Baron Rivendare inside Stratholme.

Ultimately, the answer to your question is a simple one. When could Arthas have earliest created a Death Knight? From the second he put the Helm of Domination on his greasy yellow locks. That doesn’t mean he did do it that early, but he could have. As for when he first did create them, I honestly couldn’t tell you. We know that Arthas got the hat o’telling dead people what to do about 4 years before the launch of WoW, so probably not much before that. But the fact that Naxxramas has four top tier Death Knights (as well as a chunk of rank and file ones) and there’s even a training facility with target dummies in Naxx hints that he’s been doing it for a while and Acherus wasn’t the only place dedicated to training DK’s.

THOMAS STRANGE

Thinking ahead a bit…
If Midnight lasts 18 months, it will be over around August or September of 2027.
If Last Titan lasts the same, we can expect February or March 2029 for the saga to be completed.
Therefore! If we get a standalone, re-set expansion (like Dragonflight, level squish included), it would last until August or September of 2030. Meaning the next saga (if they go with another trilogy of expansions), would technically be ten years after Shadowlands.
Meaning we could get a Shadowlands themed saga in 2030.
Just a thought!

I have no issues with your math, but I honestly don’t find it likely we’ll get back to the Shadowlands any time soon. I mean, you could argue that Legion did that by basically being The Burning Crusade happening on Azeroth instead of in Outland, so maybe we’ll see something more like that — seeing the Shadowlands or forces from there. Like, say, Sire Denathrius leading an army of Nathrezim to invade the Arathi Empire wherever it current is — or heck, maybe it’s already chock full of Nathrezim spies and that’s why the Emperor is seeking out gigantic light crystals.

Heck, we know the Nathrezim serve as spies and agents of Denathrius against the Void as well as the Light, Fel, you name it they’re spying on it. You could argue that the end of The Last Titan could flow into a reset expansion that sets the stage for the Nathrezim infiltration into the Arathi Empire by having them show up doing the same thing on Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms as a subplot.

Okay, listening to Bear McReady’s Godzilla King of the Monsters soundtrack. It was shockingly awesome, it deserves more attention than it go. Talk to y’all later. Ask Diablo questions for whoever follows me.
