The Queue: Just a Death Knight around town
You know the feeling. You’ve gotten a new hat and you just have to wear it somewhere, even though you’re in a city full of extremely judgmental elves. You can’t just stay inside with such a fabulous new hat. You have to go out and find some weirdos to appreciate it with you.
And that’s all I have to say about the May Trading Post, which went live this morning. (Though any comments complementing my hat are welcome.)
This is the Queue, our daily Q&A column where we usually do not talk about hats this much, but there are trying times. Let’s get to the questions.
Q4tQ What feature of 12.0.7 are you most looking forward to?
I’m looking forward to seeing where the story is going with Amani, and I think the relationship between Zul’jan and Zul’jarra has been particularly interesting. They both live in the long shadow cast by Zul’jin, and their lives, and their leadership roles, are all very much a response to their grandfather. They have very different ideas of where the Amani should go and how it should get there, and neither of them are ill-intentioned (even if the story sets us somewhat at odds with Zul’jan). But their differences create a tension between them which stretches to encompass all of the Amani.
Where are the Amani going, and can Zul’jan and Zul’jarra work together to get there?
I only hope that they story does not right Zul’jan off as a simple villain, because the dynamic between him and his sister is far more interesting than that.
D4 Q4tQ: what would you change about Diablo transmog? There’s a lot I like about it, but I would really like it to remember weapon transmogs even after I switch types. It’s annoying when I try equipping a new weapon to check the numbers and it strips away my transmog just because one’s a sword and one’s an axe.
Also, I wish they’d open up all classes to all body types. I’m sure this would require some animation work, but I’d love the variety. Let me play a slender barbarian, or an absolute unit of a sorcerer, or a necromancer who’s buff from all the deadlifting.
I wish transmog wasn’t class locked. I understand why it is — it allows the developers to make sets that are super specific to a single class fantasy — but it limits transmog options quite a lot (and makes you spend quite a lot more if you buy items in the shop).
I think this is a difficult and impractical change, and I don’t think it will ever happen. But I really wish transmogs weren’t quite so locked down.
QftQ: do you want more mounts that you transform into, instead of ride? (For example, the Sandstone Drake from alchemy, or Tarecgosa?)
My dracthyr frost mage would LOVE to transform into the ice dragon from the Turbulent Timeways event coming up
Sometimes you feel like riding a mount, sometimes you feel like transforming into a great flying beast. And sometimes it’s just a fun thematic match, like your dracthyr frost mage.
I’ve actually been using the Obsidian Nightwing lately which is a black stone panther with wings and some silver armor pieces. It was entirely unique for its day, but is very reminiscent of the jeweled panther mounts, and the wings are straight up stolen from a gryphon model. But it’s a unique look, and it holds up in modern WoW.
It’s also a mount you transform into, and sometimes that feels like a good fit for a character, and/or just a fun thing to do. But there are few mounts that let you, and I feel like the number could be a little higher.
Couldn’t we have another transforming mount or two, as a treat?
Apparently, there’s a new Housing bundle for 7500 Hearthsteel.
I both love this and hate it. The price point makes me feel slightly ill, even as I think well, maybe…
Because I really dig this treehouse design, and while you could DIY a treehouse in the current system — just a flying house placed on top of a large tree — you wouldn’t be able to get such a clean look. This pack comes with two pre-built treehouses in different styles, and I love them both. (And hate them both, for that price tag.)
However, I must grant that this $75 bundle includes much more than just the two treehouses. It also comes with a whole pile of decor, and the two house experiences can be bought on their own for $40.
Still, it ain’t cheap to love these looks.
Q4tQ How are things?
Trying times, my friend, but at least we have hats.
That’s all for today, everybody. Take care of yourselves and I’ll see you in the comments!
