How much fun are you having with Decor Duel?
Midnight’s patch 12.0.5 offers a wide variety of new things to try, including a hide-and-seek mini-game tied into Player Housing. So how much have you dipped your toe into Decor Duel, and how are you enjoying it so far?
I’m not sure what I was expecting when I first queued up to conceal myself as a harp, but it only took me a few games to really get the hang of this new game mode. The abilities offer just enough variety without being overwhelming, and the map feels surprisingly balanced — small enough to get familiar with quickly but large enough to offer a large number of “good” spots.
I’ll be honest, I found myself abandoning the rest of my planned tasks and repeatedly jumping into matches for the rest of my night. The entire set of achievements in the Decor Duel category can be completed in one long power-seeking session without any outliers in terms of difficulty.
With each team’s hiding time capped at three minutes, matches are easy to join and complete in just a few minutes. The daily quest that rewards 50 Illusionary Coins keeps players coming back for more, so there isn’t likely to be a long queue time for quite a while.
Even now, having completed everything other than farming more currency for the cornucopia of rewards, I am still having quite a bit of fun jumping into two quick matches each day. Engaging in a desperate pursuit of a large vase with the final seconds ticking off the clock is exhilarating, even if the stakes for winning the match are virtually non-existent.
The rewards more than satisfy my collect-’em-all tendencies, with plenty of Sin’dorei-themed Player Housing decor items. The real star are the transmog weapons which, paired with the new enhanced sheathing options, unlock some entirely new looks.
Of course, I think there is room for improvement. Even one more map would take away from the monotony of checking the same hiding spots each match. Platforming has never been World of Warcraft’s strongest suit, and some of the speed buffs make jumping to your desired location virtually impossible.
Overall, I am pleasantly surprised with how much Decor Duel has me coming back for more even in the face of a dangerously overfilled Midnight to-do list. I’m definitely hoping for more to be added all around to keep it fresh. What are your impressions so far of Silvermoon hide and seek?
