The Queue: An Azerothian on Sanctuary
Day 8 — So far I still have no idea how I got to this ‘Sanctuary’ place. It is perhaps the worst name for a place I’ve ever encountered, and I’ve been to a world named Draenor after the people who crash landed on it instead of the people native to it.
No one I’ve spoken to can point me to any portals that lead anywhere except to ‘Hell’ which is not helpful. Significant demonic problem — most people here seem terrified of or resigned to the things so I’ve taken on the task to cleaning them out.
On the upside, I can finally dye my armor.
My uncle had the old Time-Life Decades books. I learned a lot of random crap reading them as a kid.
I forget how I got my hands on the Time-Life Discoveries books, but man, so many now out of date tidbits about prehistory in those things.
I have never had moths in my house before. Not cute, big fuzzy moths, but the kind that eat clothes.
Found moth holes in a favorite sweater. Now cleansing my entire closet and chest of drawers.
So now that war has begun, these fools have no idea of the chemical crimes I am about to commit.
I have just purchased so much cedar for my closet, it will be like living in the Texas hill country again.

Mothra just wants to talk.
Q4TQ: Have you ever eaten grass in a bridal gown (or some other kind of ceremonial attire)?
I and a host of other pre-teen children sat in a dark room lit only by sunlight streaming in through colored glass windows depicting the murder of a carpenter roughly 2000 years before our births and then we all ate small, unleavened circles of bread and were told that by doing so we were eating said carpenter’s flesh.
I wore a very nice suit. Never wore it again.
D4 Q4tRossiQueue: how has the change to the new skill tree treated the barbarian? I know that the intent was for some of the new abilities to be former legendary affixes, and I had a lot of seasonal barbarians who used affixes to get endless berserking with nigh-unlimited fury. I’m hoping I’ll still be able to do that.
It’s been an adjustment — some of the new Barbarian talent options are indeed older weapon or armor affixes, others are pretty fundamental changes to how the class plays.
I’ve found a build I like that’s carried me to Torment 6 that allows me to basically use two Weapon Mastery skills (Death Blow and Steel Grasp) as core skills with greatly reduced cooldowns and DB completely refills my fury pool on a kill, and with the new skill options I’ve got DB replacing Upheaval as a 2h weapon strike that does an AoE cone in front of me and constantly refilling my fury so I can spam Steel Chain 5 times and use it to increase the damage anything I hit with it takes by 90%.
Being at full fury pops me into Berserking, so yeah, at least one build I’ve come up with lets me have near infinite fury/berserk uptime. It does require one Unique 1h sword to keep Weapon Mastery skills as Core skills and a 2h Mace/Axe combo to buff DB and Steel Grasp, but overall it’s a lot easier than it would have been back before Lord of Hatred.
In general it’s interesting to look for options that do things like make a Weapon Mastery skill core or basic — at least one build I’ve toyed with makes Steel Chain a basic skill, for example. I’m having a lot of fun with it.
Question, is there any reason to not use Mastercraft Kalu’ak Fishing Pole as your fishing pole if you’re not min-maxing the profession? Permanent under water breathing, a flat +13 fishing skill, and a classic look for a fishing pole.
Nope. I mean, I don’t fish in a video game if I can possibly avoid it, and I’ve made it a point of pride to have never leveled fishing in WoW. But that’s just me, and if you like fishing and like looking cool, that particular fishing pole is absolutely a good choice.
Good morning, Queue.
I woke up with an Ozzy Osbourne song in my head (“Over the Mountain”), so that probably means I should call in sick to work today and play my D4 warlock, Ozzi. 😝 I’m not going to, but still.
Though I’m having some trouble finding a warlock spec that feels good to me. I figured I’d do the class quest and get that gameplay change at least, but if I can’t find a way to make the class feel good, I’ll probably just switch to paladin so I can get the seasonal rewards for leveling one of the new classes to 30 and 50. I think playing so many seasonal barbarians has just gotten me used to playing melee in this game.
My unscientifically chosen list of the best 5 Ozzy/Sabbath songs to listen to while playing a video game.
No shade on War Pigs or Fairies Wear Boots but I defy anyone to leave BotM or Crazy 0ff that list.
Also, I have to admit, playing a Warlock in D4 is weirding me out. I spent 85% of my time cleaning up the mess after someone decides they’re the one who can successfully use demonic magic against the Lords of Hell, and now I get to play as the one who actually is? I’m happy for people who enjoy them, but it’s just not my jam. I like my 7 Barbs and 3 Paladins and 1 Druid, and that’s all I really need.
Okay, that’s the Queue, y’all. Take care. Be safe. Someone please tell me how to get back to Azeroth, which is only moderately infested with demons. I still haven’t built a house!

I could have sworn there was a portal to the Shadowlands around here somewhere.
