Trash Goblin and Arranger are free this week in the Epic Games Store
This week the two games the Epic Games Store is giving away for free are both kind of casual cozy little adventures — but that’s where the similarities between these two games end. Oh, they’re both single player, too.
- Arranger
- Release Date: July 25, 2024
- Game Type: puzzle, adventure
- POV: 3rd person, top-down
- Party: Single Player
- DLC: None.
Arranger is one of those puzzle games that bridge the game between a Zelda-style adventure and a Metroidvania. You wander around and try to access new places and things by picking up new items that let you traverse places along a pre-determined path. The thing about Arranger is, those paths may be predetermined, but you can move them, square by square. It’s a unique, brain-bending twist on the usual format, and definitely worth picking up.
- Trash Goblin
- Release Date: May 28, 2025
- Game Type: cozy, casual, simulation
- POV: 3rd person 2D, 1st person in-place manipulation
- Party: Single Player
- DLC: There are both cosmetic packs and a DLC to purchase.
Trash Goblin has been on my wishlist for a long time, because the idea of being a goblin, sorting through and restoring thing people have thrown away, is my raccoon heart’s dream. It reminds me a lot of the restoration minigame added to House Flipper 2, where you restore a piece of furniture by using specific tools on it in a specific way. This one has a lot of story content as well, though, delivered by 2D characters via text. It’s a lovely little game, and I’m really excited to get my gobliny mitts on it.
