The Queue: Wearing Tyrael’s Hand-Me-Downs

I am far from a good Diablo 4 player. If you want a talented player, Liz Patt has you covered. What I am is bizarrely and ridiculously tenacious. And, occasionally, I am lucky at the weirdest times. For example, I am wearing Tyrael’s Might, it’s updated for Lord of Hatred but it’s still a really great breastplate. I got it when I turned in my War Plan and Tyrael threw a bunch of loot at me, which included his breastplate.

The next Belial run I ended up on, the chest had El’druin, Sword of Justice in it. All I need are a pair of weird Angel tendrils and a hood and I’m basically cosplaying as the guy, and it’s making every time I turn in a War Plan kind of awkward.

KALCHEUS

Q4tQ Are you picking anything up from the Steam Ocean Fest?

  • Staring at my Diablo 4 addiction and sighing wistfully.
  • Staring at my empty bank account due to the whole almost dying several times and having half of my foot cut off situation and sighing wistfully.
  • Staring at my Xbox Game Pass subscription which drains my bank balance every month but is way cheaper than buying a new game. Don’t sigh wistfully this time, but I’m definitely staring off into space.

It’s just not a good time for me to spend more money, honestly.

ARTHONOS

Odd mix of emotions, I just donated the signed WoW 30th anniversary poster I got at PAX last year to a charity auction. I don’t really hang up game posters as decor anymore, my house has limited spaces to hang stuff and I’m already planning to hang up family photos or artwork I’ve collected from vacations over the years. Why keep a WoW poster rolled up in storage when someone else could enjoy it?

So why do I feel guilty?

You are a being of pure conceptualization chained inside a husk of meat waiting to decay, and you will eventually be consumed by fungi, flames or bacteria. You, like others of your kind, have a series of pastimes and distractions that keep the constant awareness of that impending cessation from the forefront of the strange goo sponge that holds you.

This has made you feel connected to the pastimes. It’s something humans do, and so, even though you have no real need for the gift tied to one of your pastimes you feel guilty for not cherishing the reminder of it.

It is very human and not to be disregarded.

MOVEOVER

This is for all of you 3D printing D&D playing nerds out there. Even if you don’t have a 3D printer you can still buy this and have your friends with printers make them for you. :-)

Man I wish I had a 3D printer or a friend within a thousand miles who had one.

JALAMENOS

I never actually looked further into it but when I first came across the “Roanoke mystery” several years ago, I immediately just figured that the inhabitants of that town simply moved to another place, and the word “Croatoan” carved into a tree or pole or whatever it was, was just the name of the place they moved to.

Turns out, there was a settlement called Croatoan not far from Roanoke, go figure.

Hey, I have a book about that. You should buy 50000 copies of it.

JALAMENOS DIDN’T REMEMBER THE CODE PHRASE HIS DREAM TRIED TO IMPLANT

I had a really strange kind of reality-doubting moment today.
Last night, in my dream, I don’t remember the context but someone said that I have long hair and should cut it.
Then, this morning, a coworker said exactly that – my hair isn’t even long, I cut it less than a month ago, it’s less than a finger’s width in length.
I just stared at her, genuinely wondering why she’d say that and if I was still sleeping.
Then she just switched subject and kept on talking.
It was really, really weird.

Perhaps you are lucky to have dodged the adventure that was offered to you that would have torn the scales from your reality and revealed the truth of our existence.

Or perhaps you have been cheated from a true awakening, and our whole world doomed because you will not be able to save us.

TRISTAN2004

YYou Ever finally stumble upon a lore thing that fixed alot (for a character, or story or whatnot) of your problems. In 5th edition dnd ive long had an issue with the “tinkerer” version of artificer. And when brainstorming how i might do an artilleriest without doing thr “hello aragon im tony stark” thing i thought of like bug magic. Like his armor is made of chitten and he collects bugs and but parts and uses magic to amplify. His turrent is a Bombardier beetle thing. Ect.

finally i looked up non tech artificer and saw many perfect ideas. Wicker or frankenstein constructs. Witch or rune magic. A leather fetishist who makes magic out of animal parts. All widely different feels. Rune mage draws runes in the air and can instill some more permanently. A witches spells are hexes or curses. Thr homonculus can look like anything and so can your battlesmith construct.

i had long been thinking of a mech pilot and it would be cool to have a wood and wicker construct as a battlesmith, and be a wood gnome or something. Go all guardian of thr forest with a big tree guardian

Maybe make your gun based on the Pistol Shrimp. They make a shockwave via a modified pincer that can break the sound barrier, stun animals in their path and even break objects. Seriously, the ‘pistol’ of the Pistol Shrimp can reach thousands of degrees Celsius.

Imagine your character creating a suit of armor based on the various members of Alpheidae including things like their armored eyes and their ability to create insane bursts of heat that actually get hotter (in a very small area) than the surface of the sun.

MUSEDMOOSE

Q4tQ: when do you decide to stop playing a Diablo IV season? Asking because the game refuses to give me the legendary affixes I want for my barbarian and I’m considering giving it a timeout as punishment.

It’s going to sound cheesy, but whenever I stop having fun with it. Previous Seasons, it’s depended on a lot of things — Season 1 bored the pants off of me so I stopped real quick, but Season 10 held my attention for pretty much the whole ride.

Okay, that’s the Queue. I’m off to try and get Tyrael’s Pants. I figure he doesn’t need them if he’s going around shirtless and without his sword anyway.
