The Queue: People die and A. F. Kay eats cupcakes
Rumor has it that Conjured Mana Cupcakes contain zero calories. I believe it. A. F. Kay is constantly eating the stuff (while her teammates get eaten by Sindragosa or what-have-you), yet she maintains an impeccable figure regardless.
…then again, she has the exact same figure as every single other Human Female in the game. Hmmm. 🤔
This is The Queue, our daily Q&A column where we give a lot of thought to important questions such as the metaphysics of mana food and the (im)possibilities of using time magic for infinite nourishment.
Lorewise, would an Evoker be able to eat Westfall Stew and then reverse time to eat it an infinite amount of times, or would that be more inline of a Mage’s abilities?
Ah, that’s a good question. Mages do have spells like Alter Time that let them tinker with time itself in a limited fashion, but Evokers have actual Bronze Dragonflight powers. So both have the basic capability, at least.
Evokers are more likely to get stronger Time powers. The Bronze Dragonflight is right there in Valdrakken; even if they haven’t farmed enough aura to be able to they can probably schedule a meeting with Nozdormu himself, or a big shot like Chromie, they might be able to talk to a Zidormi or a Soridormi or some other bronze dude or dudette to give them a crash course on time manipulation. Probably. The access is definitely wider than a Mage’s, who’d have to study the stuff themselves.
On the other hand, Mages do have the edge when it comes to dealing with food and magic. They probably have entire cookbooks written. They conjure mana biscuits and mana muffins and entire plates of mana cupcakes, and they do it all the time. It’s basic stuff. So maybe this gives them an easier time understanding how exactly the leylines interact with food, even if it’s weird food like Westfall Stew.
Still, in the end, lorewise I think that it would be easier for the Evoker. Sorry, A. F. Kay!
1. What class (in D4, WoW, whatever) have you never been able to make work for you? I had alts of all classes in WoW, but for some reason, the Spiritborn in D4 has never felt right to me. And I’ve never been able to roll a druid because they just look so sad. 😖
2. What sort of everyday things do you do that you still really look forward to? I’m baking tomorrow and I cannot wait.
3. Read any good books lately?
1. “Never” is a strong word. I tend to stick with most classes/specs, even when I’m not a huge fan of them. I’ll just play them less than others.
That said, in D4 I still haven’t been able to make a Druid work for me because I don’t like how they look, and the werewolf builds I tried were pretty bad and squishy. And in WoW, I have a bit of a hard time sticking to Arms Warrior these days — I prefer the frantic pace of Fury over the slow-and-deliberate (with even some rage starvation spells!) or Arms.
2. Playing with my bands. I do it most weeks, but it’s easily the most fun activity in life for me. Getting together with people, chatting, having a drink, playing music, and making music. It’s the perfect kind of socializing for me. Socializing while harmonizing, and building something.
3. I recently finished my reread of Cloud Atlas (about 10 years later!), and I gave “reading more involved stuff” a break by reading one of my big RPG books for a bit as a palate cleanser. I usually do that before diving into something dense again. But I feel about ready to now.
Trying to decide between Burning Chrome (since I did read the Sprawl trilogy relatively recently), The Iron Heel, and The Demon-Haunted World. All three sit on my nightstand at the moment.
Q4tQ are you starting to get excited for all the gaming shows coming up in the next three weeks?
I honestly haven’t been following these things super closely (I rarely do), but I do have a lot of game announcements or new trailers or release date announcements I want to see. From FF7R part 3 to Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave to anything Persona (4R more likely, with 6 a distant, unlikely dream).
And now that you put this on my mind I can say that yes, I am starting to get excited! I wasn’t before, but I am now!
How many “over there’s” make up a “yonder”?
Three. Anything more and we enter dangerous plumb out territory.
You have unlimited time for 4days to game, do you binge one thing or play a bunch of them to break it up?
I probably binge one thing, assuming it’s a dense game (like an RPG, or an action game that will take some effort to beat, etc), but I might break it up with lighter/easier stuff every now and then. So… little bit of both in reality, but the answer is mostly “binge.”
What’s you favorite thing to BBQ and/or your favorite BBQ to eat?
Garlic bread.

This has been The Queue. The strongest spell in World of Warcraft is the channeled spell A. F. Kay Eat Cupcake. Super deadly!
Have a great weekend, friends, and bake some cupcakes or something; I don’t know, I’m not your real dad.
