The Queue: Fine Art

My favorite person and I wandered around a pop art gallery today. It was full of some great pieces involving interesting perspectives, drunken olives who were also pirates, cowboys painted from interesting angles, and more lovely portraits of celebrities and public figures than you can count. It reinforced two things: one, neither of us makes enough money to buy large original art despite how cool it would look on our walls, and two, who knew the world needed so many olive people paintings.

The standouts that we saw, and lamented not being able to buy the most, were a series from a local artist of astronauts and hot dogs in space. There was a fantastic piece that was extra wide and skinny, which was just an astronaut on the moon, with a hot dog cart, and nothing else. For some reason, it spoke to us. Maybe it was the absurdity, maybe it was our love of hot dogs — all I know is that it would be fantastic hanging above my TV, but sadly, I don’t have the two weeks’ wages to spend on whimsical art.

While I look into a set of burglars tools, it’s time for our daily question and answer column — The Queue!

SAY UH, OH, YEAH, LIFE GOES ON LONG AFTER THE THRILL OF FALLANGER IS GONE

So I’m just one book away of the end of the discworld saga.
I want and don’t want to start it

I know that feeling all too well. I’m in my second watch of the show Fringe, and I’ve been down to just the last episode for a while now. However, if I finish it, it’s over — and I’m not ready for that yet! I’ve even seen it once before, but it’s been a while, and I remember the last episode being really good, so I want to make sure that I can give it the proper attention that it deserves.

When I finished the Horus Heresy series a few months ago, I got around this problem by the last book being split into three parts. So by the time I got to the third part, I was already so invested in the final conflict that I had no choice but to leap into it.

So if it helps, you could just cut the book in half and consider it two books. I’ll leave the method of splitting the book up to you; it could be a bookmark, it could be a machete.

FUZZYBUNNY SCRATCHES HIS HEAD AND DOES HIS BEST JAMES DEAN

Q4tQ:
Last night I got to wondering if Draeneis have hooves for feet, why do they have hands?
But that’s not my question. My question is:
If horses have frogs in their hooves, do Draenei have frogs in theirs, and do they use a pick to clean them if they do?

I think you must be confused. Horses and frogs are very different animals. One is much bigger than the other, for example, even the miniature versions. There are other differences, like the whole tongue thing, but I feel like the size is an easy one to highlight here.

Draenei are also not frogs, see the aforementioned size issue, but they’re also not amphibious or laying large clutches of eggs. However, I do think you’re probably right that they’d have a variety of bespoke hoof cleaning tools and services. I can’t imagine how gross your hoof would be after fighting your way across a battlefield littered with dead demons and such forth.

“WELL THEN, THERE KRALD, WE OUGHTA RUN OFF TO THE CITY”

as im running through amirdrassil… WHY again is this council fighting us… our if our presence desecrates the halls, why the hell are they not doing anything about the fire dragon?

This is a letter of the law vs. the spirit of the law kind of situation. They’re so focused on the letter of the law that our presence is untenable, no matter what else is happening around them. Sure, Fyrakk flew in and started messing up the joint, but he’s left their end of things alone, so they’re gonna chalk that up as a win. Then we come along and mess up their plans, and they gotta throw down with us. They were just working their way up to that big ol’ fire dragon when we burst onto the scene.

I do wish that an all Druid raid would’ve been given a pass, though. Just a quick “Hey, y’all are alright and can be trusted to be respectful. Would you like a box of shiny stuff we have to help you on your journey?” Of course, that’s followed by us going and proving them right as we go and blow the Weaver of the Cycle away in the next room. We definitely needed her magic to make the giant wooden bridge so we could run along it to fight the guy throwing lots of fire onto the giant wooden bridge.

Better questions are, why didn’t any of the dragons fly us over, or any of our spellcasters make a bridge out of non-flammable materials? We could’ve skipped four whole bosses and gotten to Fyrakk even sooner!

SO LET IT ROCK, LET IT ROLL LET THE BIBLE BELT COME AND SAVE MY RED

hot take of the day: cheddar is extremely overrated

Gouda is good, but cheddar is beddar!

Cheddar has so many good uses that can be done by other cheeses, but it’s also a really great, versatile cheese! I think it’s definitely rated perfectly.

It’s got the oomph to sell itself, but also nothing that’s going to turn most people off. It’s not like a blue cheese where you’re gonna turn people off at the first whiff, or something with a lot of herbs that could overpower or clash with the dish. It’s just going to be its best cheesy self as it brings the whole meal together.

I like most cheeses, y’know, except for the blue stuff.

A LITTLE DITTY ‘BOUT MUSED AND MOOSE

Hello, Queue. I have returned from a hike in the woods with an old friend and his young child.

I am now exempt from all wilderness excursions until September.

You can’t fool me, I know that mooses belong in the woods. That’s their home! I’ve seen a moose or two in my time.

Imagine one inside, the antlers would knock everything off your shelves so quickly. Next, you’ll be telling me that bears don’t wear big, silly hats.

Bacardi has had a busy weekend full of resting. Will this lead to better loot in your vaults? A well-rested kitty is a productive kitty, but even then, a productive kitty is only so productive. Best give him extra attention and see what happens.

Would you rather

Go camping in beautiful weather with lots of nearby amenities

Or

Stay in a nice hotel in a city with good activities but the weather is kinda crappy

Today’s Anna Earworm™: Jack and Diane

I guess I’ll leave you with the same message I did last week. Enjoy your long weekend, if you have one, and help Anna enjoy hers more by leaving her lots of questions!
