The Queue: Parachutes
Feels like good games are just dropping from the sky. There are so many games that have been announced recently that I’m tremendously excited about, like Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, the long-awaited finale to the FF7 Remake project, seven years after it started. But there are many more, and we’ll talk about them — but also about WoW, and other random things, like hot dogs, and gravity!
This is The Queue. It’s a column. It’s daily. It has Qs. Let’s gather together, look at the sky, and wait for those As to drop down, and let’s try to catch them. It’ll be fun!
Q4tQ Out of all the games you saw during Summer Game Fest which one are you most looking forward to?
This is an impossible question to answer. Combining this Summer Game Fest, Xbox Game Showcase, and Nintendo Direct, so many games that I’m extremely excited about were announced (or had already been announced but we learned more about them), including the top three: Final Fantasy (Revelation), Fire Emblem (Fortune’s Weave), and Persona (both 6 and 4 Revival). Not to mention a new Castlevania (Belmont’s Curse), the best possible addition to Street Fighter 6 (Tifa!), and more games that I’m looking forward to on varying levels of excitement, like the new Xenoblade Genesis.
If all of those games came out tomorrow, what would I play? That’s a fun exercise to make. I’d leave the Persona 4 remake for later along with Castlevania and SF6. Fortune’s Weave is a game that I don’t play as much for the story or spectacle as FF7 or Persona, so it would have to wait as well.
In the end, it would come down to FF7 Revelation and Persona 6. I’d flip a coin between those two. But gun to my head, right now, I think I’d go with P6 first simply because there’s more to discover there — Revelation, as much as it’s a new game, features a world, main plot, and characters that I already know, while P6 is a complete unknown.

Love that she uses her bike in gameplay too.
The most important question we must ask ourselves is: can Genji deflect the bike?

Is it just me or is gravity somehow stronger today?
If gravity just changed very slightly overnight, would anyone even be able to notice?!
(Yes. Some guy in some lab would probably notice and he would let everyone know.)
(But maybe people wouldn’t believe him, and would burn him at the stake while yelling WITCHCRAFT!!! like we’re living in medieval times, and vampires exist, and those vampires ask philosophical questions like “what is a man?!” which are, in fact, rhetorical, for those very same vampires provide their hypotheses for an answer immediately after, lest we ponder too much and that somehow gives us the power to defeat them.)

Q4tQ: If a store has a hot dog vendor outside; do you get a dog before going in, after coming out, for browsing the store, or not at all?
After coming out of the store, for sure. Then I find a nice place to sit down and enjoy my hot dog. I’ve done that before, in fact. It was a good experience, which I appreciated.
Mmm, hot dogs.

Q4tQ:
What are you most looking forward to in the patch?
For me it’s Square Woolen Rug (which is dyeable).
A wild WoW question appears!
I’m excited about faster leveling, with the increased XP for dungeon quests, Prey, and the weekly events (among other things). That should make it more fun to level alts to 90 (which, frankly, has been my main activity so far in Midnight). Also, Turbulent Timeways, and Dragonflight Timewalking! I actually skipped most of the Dragonflight expansion, so it could be fun to revisit those dungeons, since I have so little experience in them.
Also excited about Heroic World Tier on the two new mini-zones! I hope it’s as fun (and good for gearing) as it was during Legion Remix.
NOT looking forward to the new Omnium Folio thing. Borrowed power bores me to death these days, and makes me less excited about playing, knowing I’ll be having to work to unlock something that I won’t benefit from forever. The fact that these things are usually time-gated to be unlocked week by week makes them even worse for me. I’m super over that these days.
I like that there’s a new Personal Resource Display indicator on the UI. Right now, we depend on addons like Sensei for that. Having it be baseline might make things better — or it might be worse than the addon alternative, in which case I’ll just keep using that.
Either way, while I’m not actively playing much WoW right now, there’s definitely some incentive for me to come back and check out the new patch. But I don’t promise I’ll stick around to complete the time-gated borrowed power thing. I still haven’t even finished the last one, for the extra rolls; lost interest before being done.
Man, Queue. I think, I think I love bards
Well, have a bard, then. She’s from one of the games I’m excited about, and she’ll probably sing us a song! Maybe even her own theme song!

This has been The Queue for today. We hope you’re also excited about upcoming games — even if it’s not as many games as I am — and have a great weekend of daydreaming about those games dropping down from the sky in front of you and slowly falling down at your feet, in neat packages, aided by comically small parachutes.
