Citizen Sleeper is an instant classic, due to its narrative strength and relative uniqueness. It’s inspired by TTRPGs, and set in space. In terms of video games, it has a little something in common with Visual Novels and Choices Matter games, where you are presented with the option of siding with this character or that one, of making a response you hope is a good one — but in Citizen Sleeper, the dice can get in the way.
- Robobeat: Shoot to the Rhythm
- Release Date: May 14, 2024
- Game Type: Rhythm game, FPS, Roguelite
- POV: 1st person
- Party: Single Player
- DLC: none
Even though I do frequently adore wanton violence in the form of beating zombies to death in a fountain of gore with a baseball bat to the dome, there’s something that makes me feel a little uncomfortable about the idea of a rhythm game where you’re shooting a gun to the beat. All your opponents and the player character are robots, so it’s truly no different than a game like Rift of the Necrodancer, but it just feels a little strange. The game itself is solid, and you can also load in your own music tracks if you’re not feeling the ones that are pre-loaded, or if you’re a streamer and want to a void getting DMCAed.
