Everything you need to know about WoW Midnight Season 2, going live on August 18

World of Warcraft Midnight Season 2 begins on August 18, 2026, one week after patch 12.1‘s August 11, 2026 launch. Some Season 2 activities will be available alongside the rest of patch 12.1’s launch but the more difficult content goes live on August 18 including the new eight-boss raid The Venomous Abyss, a new Mythic+ dungeon rotation, and a new PVP season.

When will Midnight Season 2 content be available?

August 11

• New three-boss Altar of Fangs dungeon
• Prey Season 2 begins with Normal and Hard modes versions of new targets and affixes on The Coiled Isle
• Training Ground Arena vs. bots
• Heroic and Mythic dungeon rotation unlocks:
  • Altar of Fangs
  • Murder Row
  • Den of Nalorakk
  • The Blinding Vale
  • Voidscar Arena
  • Kings’ Rest (Battle for Azeroth)
  • Ruby Life Pools (Dragonflight)
  • Temple of Sethraliss (Battle for Azeroth)
• Tidebound Grotto Lair opens
• Delves Season 2, with new Delves:
  • Ring of Glory
  • Gnarldor Isle
  • Venomfall Deeps (Nemesis Delve)
• Training Grounds Arena vs bots

August 18

• The eight-boss Venomous Abyss raid launches in Normal, Heroic, and Mythic difficulties
• Venomous Abyss Faid Finder Wing 1 opens
• Mythic+ dungeon rotation begins
• PVP Season 2
• Prey Nightmare Mode and Curse of the Isle becomes available
• Normal, Heroic, and Mythic versions of the Tidebround Grotto Lair
• Bountiful Delves and Keys unlock
• Great Vault Season 2 opens up

August 25

• Venomous Abyss Raid Finder Wing 2 and Story Mode

September 1

• Venomous Abyss Raid Finder Wing 3

September 8

• Venomous Abyss Raid Finder Wing 4

Venomous Abyss raid. The full Venomous Abyss raid will be immediately available in Normal, Heroic, Mythic difficulties on August 18 as well as the first Raid Finder Wing. Story Mode and the remaining Raid Finder wings open up in subsequent weeks and become fully accessible by September 8.

Season 2 Mythic dungeon rotation. A new Heroic and Mythic dungeon rotation, including the new Altar of Fangs dungeon, will go live with patch 12.1 along with four other Midnight dungeons and three dungeons from previous expansions. Mythic+ will be available starting August 18 and players can start working towards the seasonal titles and rewards:

• Titles:
  • “the Venomous”
  • “the Venomous Contender”
  • “the Venomous Hero”
• Mounts:
  • Breath of Blight 
  • Breath of Ruin 

Bountiful Delves. The three Delves added in patch 12.1 will become part of the Bountiful Delves rotation in Season 2, opening up difficulty tiers beyond Tier 7 when Season 2 launches. This includes the seasonal Nemesis Delve, Venomfall Deeps, and its associated Nemesis boss. New snake and venom variants have been teased for the existing Midnight Delves but as for what that exactly means, we don’t know at the moment.

New Prey hunts. Delves aren’t the only thing getting new variants, as new Prey targets will be available to hunt in Season 2 and these targets will have new affixes that fit in with the serpent/poison motif of the Coiled Isle.

New PVP Season. Season 2 also marks the start of a new PVP season and an expansion of the Training Grounds to include an Arena versus bots mode, giving players an easier avenue to learn how to play.
