Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 and Voidwrought are this week’s free games from the Epic Games Store

Roller Coaster Tycoon is a series that most gamers are at least aware of in some way. It’s one of many sim games where you usually have a first playthrough where you try to complete the game as intended — building the coolest theme park while maintaining a profit and making your customers happy. However, as with all sims games, subsequent playthroughs all end up with behavior you’d probably have to explain to an FBI agent or psychologist. May all your roller coaster designs fly off the track and murder an entire group of tourists waiting at the smoothie stand. Oh, I’m sorry, not technically murder — criminally negligent homicide. I’m sure you can plead that down to manslaughter.

Voidwrought is an action platformer where all the environments and characters — and gore! — are lovingly handdrawn. I’m not the biggest fan of platformers. Even though I’m not skittish about heights in real life, for some reason, jumping over pits in video games gives me anxiety. I played a ton of Tetris and Zelda as a kid, but Mario was never my favorite. However, I will always go to the mat for the sickos who make games in a way that honors human creation, so I’m definitely going to pick this one up.
