Which World of Warcraft holiday has the best transmog?

After many years of cosmetic appearances tied to holidays that could only be applied at the proper time of year, World of Warcraft has leaned into the “fashion when you feel like it” outlook and included some truly epic year-round transmog in the last few seasonal celebrations. But which ones turns heads no matter the calendar page, and which ones fizzle outside of their celebrations?

The Midsummer Fire Festival came on strong this year with several fiery ensembles available to players who properly honored An’she. Sure, we already had a big ol’ brazier hat, but that model is from 15 years ago when the main drawback of transmog was the armor’s lack of pixels. The new hi-res edition looks stunning with the accompanying shoulders, and throwing in the over-the-top weapon enchant is the red/yellow/pale blue icing on the cake. With several other signature outfits, hopefully you flew through enough flaming blossoms to spend the rest of the summer in blazing style.

Another contender is Hallow’s End. I had nothing negative to say to any player still wearing their flaming green Horseman’s Armor well into the new year, especially paired with a matching weapon. With the Harvest Golem getup and several pumpkins and witch hats in the catalog, it’s easy to make an argument that the end of autumn deserves the title of most wonderful transmog time of the year.

Many of the other holidays have added some unique cosmetics in their most recent iterations. You can sport a Brewfest kilt and cape (or just a shattered barrel helm), wear your Gaudy Winter Veil Sweater year-round, and celebrate the spirit of spring by whomping enemies with a pink-and-blue butterfly mace at any time.

Ultimately there isn’t one correct answer because fashion is subjective and completing repetitive tasks to earn virtual pants should bring us together rather than drive us apart. I’ll have to see how long my Midsummer transmog lasts before I give up the precious slot to my next favorite look, and then I’ll be able to properly evaluate its place in my own holiday outfit pantheon. Which special week on the calendar have you circled in order to earn its transmog rewards?
