Fiery summer moth mounts and pets flutter into the 6-month WoW subscription gift box

The steady march of time brings both sorrow and joy, but today it’s the latter as there’s a new 6-month subscription mount and pet reward for World of Warcraft players. The Sunflare Driftmoth is a fiery retail skyriding insect that dazzles in summer shades of red and orange, and the Sunflutter Driftmoth is a correspondingly miniature version serving as a WoW Classic companion pet.

Players who have active 6- or 12-month subscriptions should automatically receive the rewards upon logging in: look for a notification that you have unopened rewards in-game and open up your prizes in the mount or pet submenu. If the recent pattern holds, these rewards will remain available to any players newly switching to 6- or 12-month subscriptions until January when new freebies take their place.

If you’re on the fence about upgrading your subscription to earn these glowing lepidopterans, be sure you understand the restrictions on where they can both be used. The mount is exclusive to retail, so you can glide around Midnight’s Eversong Woods in palette-matching style. There are more flavors of WoW Classic than you’ll find at a typical ice cream shop, but the companion pet is specifically for the progression realms that are currently on Mists of Pandaria.

If you’re out of luck because you don’t play World of Warcraft for six months at a time or you really wanted the mount for your Mists Classic characters, then there’s some small consolation in the fact that the in-game shop offers both mount and pet in both retail and classic versions.

The naming scheme gets a bit complicated, but you can purchase the Sunflare Driftmoth mount for $25 USD and the Sunflicker Driftmoth pet for $10 USD via the Midnight in-game shop. On Mists Classic servers, the in-game shop offers the Sunflash Driftmoth mount for $25 USD and the Sunflutter Driftmoth pet for $10 USD.
