The Queue: Cory Space Program

I’ve always wanted to go to space, but actual space flight seems… complicated. So this slingshot ride behind me seems like the next best thing.

I would totally ride it, but here’s the problem — it costs $50 to touch the sky. Which feels like just slightly too much money. If it was only 25 bucks, I would’ve already gone up, maybe multiple times over the last few years. If it was 40, I could grumble about it, but suck it up and take the launch of a lifetime. Fifty though?! That’s too much money to just go by myself.

I’ve been trying to see if any of the other Blizzard Watch staff want to sponsor me to take that launch. Maybe Anna really wants to finally be rid of me, and this is the most expedient way. Maybe Liz needs someone to be able to come on the podcast and talk about the experience. Either way, I’ve been a good Blizzard Watcher, and I would like to ride the slingshot. I’ve even written a haiku about it.

Oh giant slingshot
Launch me skyward to the sun
Mostly screams of joy

If that doesn’t get me a free slingshot ride, I don’t know what will.

While I come up with more ideas to prove how much I deserve to be sent to space, it’s time for our daily question and answer column — The Queue!

Yay Muppets! They were the best part, as they often are.

I think this is probably a one-and-done situation. From the comments I’ve seen about it, many of the traditional fans of the World Cup weren’t really impressed by it. Having almost a full half-hour break between halves was a bit rough for the average viewer, apparently. It’s really only American and Canadian Football that has the halftime performance for their big final matches. At least as far as I know, I can’t think of big basketball shows or baseball performances. Not to say it doesn’t happen, but it’s really only the Super Bowl and Grey Cup that seem to have these musical acts come out and do their thing. The last two times that the Oilers got into the Stanley Cup Finals, there were some pre-game performances, but nothing in the middle of it. It’s harder with hockey, too, since there are two breaks between the three periods. So you’d need to get your stage built and struck twice.

Long story short, I think this was a good experiment and will likely not be repeated. Unless FIFA can figure out how to make more advertising dollars by doing it, then we’ll see it all the time going forward.

The average person in Stormwind probably doesn’t see much difference between leadership. There’s someone making the big decisions, and as long as they work to keep the purple demons from destroying your farm/shop/house, you’re probably pretty happy with your lot in life. So whether it’s Anduin or another Paladin, you’ll be happy.

Now, if the new leader is dressed in long black robes and twirling a moustache, maybe there’ll be some second thoughts. I mean, as long as they don’t stiff the laborers who build everything, they can’t do worse than some past people in power. Who would be dumb enough to do that again…

That’s just like, your opinion, man.

I usually like the newer Timewalking, as the dungeon design has improved so much over the years and everything feels smoother. Timewalking is more of a means to an end for me, whether that’s earning a mount or a random piece of loot from the raid; it hasn’t been about seeing the old dungeons in a hot minute.

So smoother, more streamlined dungeons mean faster clears, and that means I’m back to doing what I really want to be doing sooner.

That’s a tough one, it’s so good at its job of being creepy, and also funny, that it’s hard to compare it to anything. Especially since you’ve already mentioned What We Do In the Shadows, Severance, and Midnight Mass. There is The Boroughs on Netflix, which is only going to get one season, and I heard good things about. I haven’t watched it, but I probably will at some point. I mean, it’s got Geena Davis and Alfred Molina; those two names alone sell me.

There’s also Ash vs Evil Dead, but that was more uh… juicy… than Widow’s Bay was. It’s gory and bloody, and the humor isn’t nearly the same. But it is still a funny horror property. Just a different flavor. For that, it’d help if you were already a fan of Army of Darkness or Evil Dead 2. How far you get in the Evil Dead world really depends on how much you like laughing at Bruce Campbell’s loud and obnoxious Ash.

I did like Scream Queens from Ryan Murphy, who also produced the American Horror Story series. It had Jaime Lee Curtis, and more slasher movie jokes than you can shake your stick at. Horror and Comedy often go hand in hand, and there are tons of lists out there of the top funny spooky things.

You could also jump into podcasts if you like some spooky stuff, and funny stuff, and funny spooky stuff. I’ve written a few lists of favorites in my time here at Blizzard Watch.

Sadly, nothing recently has stood out nearly as much as Widows Bay did for me. But there are a few things there to maybe keep the horror vibe rolling for you.

Bacardi has been suffering through the recent heat wave we’ve had here. He’s too stubborn to go down into the basement, where it’s much cooler, and instead just stretches out as far as he can go to try to be cooler. Which is absurd, because he’s already one cool cat. I’ve been told that if you laughed at that, you get extra loot this week.

I just saw Mother Mother in concert, and they played this song, and it was very nice in person. Make sure to be very nice to Anna and leave her lots of questions for tomorrow! Maybe she knows why Liz won’t bankroll my dreams of space.
