The Queue: Going on a date

My spouse and I are going to see Spider-Man: Brand New Day this weekend, a date night and the first movie I’ll see in a theatre since 2020. I won’t pretend I’m not nervous — COVID left marks on my soul that have never really faded and the realization that many people living around me would be perfectly happy to let me and other people with risk factors die instead of doing simple, harmless things like wearing masks or getting vaccinated.

Still, I want to see Spider-Man do Spider-Man things. And at least I know he’d wear a mask to keep me safe, if he were real.

Edmonton isn’t built like a European city, nor an American one. A lot of it is very concentrated around the major population centers and then it quickly turns into farms and ranches and then essentially nothing. So it’s not quite the task it would be elsewhere. On the other hand, Edmonton isn’t small. I’d personally select neither oh God I can’t handle this big a crowd but that’s just me.

Cory fears very little and loves deeply. His devotion to the power of positive thinking is, well, positively inspiring. That said, I’ve wanted Ogres as a playable race for literal decades at this point. I’d personally prefer it if the Alliance got the Roman Empire flavored Gorian Ogres from Warlords while the Horde of course gets the more familiar Ogres we’ve seen for years.

I’m not Mitch, but I can easily imagine Zombie Lei Shen raised by a diminished Mueh’Zala who is attempting to do to Bwonsamdi what Bwonsamdi did to him.

Even if he is, that means he knows more about the franchise then, say, me. I feel like he either has had to play it or is related to/in a relationship with someone who did to even think of posting a picture of himself with the character who serves as your one stop shop for Recovery items and dubiously legal prescriptions.

Yes, I did go look her up. I’ve never played any of the Persona series. It’s not Xenogears or Xenogears adjacent.

Best: Original Sunken Temple. It was the first dungeon I ran that really felt like what it was on the Tin — a huge temple complex sunk by the wrath of a Dragon Aspect — without being a multi-wing dungeon which you were expected to run in pieces.

Worst: Original Sunken Temple. It was a slog, y’all.

I will always be fond of TBC dungeons because when I was leveling the first time, I discovered that most of the dungeons were designed with fast exits that meant you didn’t have to run all the way back through the dungeon you’d just cleared. Clear the joint, kill the boss, then go take the quick portal or short hallway and bam, you’re done.

Nowadays it’s not the issue it was then, but I still remember it fondly.

Honestly, this expansion has run me over like a truck and I haven’t been ready for any of it.

Okay, that’s the Queue for today. My date’s Saturday. I’m terrified and excited.
