How to get to the Venomous Abyss raid entrance in Midnight patch 12.1’s Coiled Isle
The entrance to the Venomous Abyss raid in World of Warcraft patch 12.1 is a pain in the butt to find, living up to the grand old tradition of indoor raids past such as Uldir and Nighthold. This raid is located inside the Vaults of Atal’Utek in the new Coiled Isle zone, but the right way to get inside isn’t obvious — and the Vaults of Atel’Utek can be nearly as annoying to navigate as Suramar.
If you’re one of the players having trouble finding their way on raid night, here’s how to get to the entrance of the Venomous Abyss raid inside the Vaults of Atal’Utek so you can get your 12.1 raid on in peace.

The first step is just getting inside the Vaults of Atal’Utek. There are three entrances on the Coiled Isle:
- The Gate of the Serpent Eye in Venom Rise at 43.3, 44.2 (literally right next to the region text on the map).
- The Gate of the Western Fang in The Forum at 31.8, 64.9 (butting up against the left side of the mountain on the map).
- The Gate of the Eastern Fang reachable over the bridge from Tokka’s Landing at 45.4, 65.9 (butting up against the right side of the mountain on the map).
If you’re feeling stymied, fly in a circle around the mountain on the round section of the isle. The gates are pretty much equidistantly-spaced. Just check our map above, set a waypoint (or all three to figure out which is closest) and get zooming.
There’s also one flight path inside the Vaults, Amani Foothold. If you enter through either of the fang gates, you should run into this flight path quickly; it is just outside the Altar of Fangs dungeon entrance, which to the south of the Venomous Abyss.

Now that you’re inside the Vaults, you’ve got some additional not-quite-zooming to do after you are dismounted on entrance (although you can remount inside) to get to the Venomous Abyss raid entrance at 47.2, 21.7 on the north side of the vault. If you’ve come by flight path to the Amani Foothold or walked from the Fang gates, the easiest route is to talk to an Amani Windcaller and have them send you to the Eastern Amani Outpost. If you’ve come the Venom Rise entrance, you’re already at the Eastern Outpost and can skip this step! Starting from this eastern encampment lets you dodge a lot of the poison pools and elites.
From there, run northwest across the unbroken bridge — the raid entrance is in sight the entire time. The Outpost Windcaller can give you a stealth boost by selecting “I want the winds to hide me from sight” which will make you invisible and boost your run speed for 90 seconds… plenty of time to dash past the mobs between you and the raid. Run on up (follow the arrow in our image above), and you’re there!
If you get waylaid, fall off the bridge, or are otherwise starting elsewhere in the zone look for a wind path (arranged up the center of the map) to launch yourself into the air. These look like swirls of wind, and walking over them will launch you into the air and then let you glide. You can also find glowing green feathers throughout the Vaults, that you can click on to give you an extra action button with the same effect. Be on the lookout for either to launch yourself over immediate dangers and glide north. There are enough wind spots to make a straight path to the Venomous Abyss entrance across the center of the vault… but starting at the Eastern Amani Outpost is faster.

Tl;dr — Start at the Eastern Amani Outpost and race across the bridge to the raid entrance (speak to the Amani Windcaller in camp to give you stealth to get past mobs without trouble). If you can’t get to the outpost, be prepared to dodge elites and poison pools, because the whole dang zone is a murder pit and the obligation to go there is absolutely a hassle, but knowing the tricks makes your life a little easier.. Good luck, and happy raiding!
