The Epic Games Store is giving away Alone With You for free this week

Every week the Epic Games Store gives away a game or two for free. This week, they’re giving us a heartwrenching indie scifi game for free.

Alone With You is an older title, but because they elected to go with a retro feel rather than shoot for realism 10 years ago, it aged well. It tells the story of an escape from a doomed space colony, just you, your computer, and 4 hologram best buddies. You have to go through and explore your environment like any adventure game, but there’s also a Visual Novel element, where you hold conversations and choose among various options based on who you want your character to be (or date). The narrative is infamously heartwrenching — though I suppose that’s a good assumption from the whole “fleeing a doomed space colony” premise, especially since you don’t get to shoot two guns at the same time and yell “ahhh.” But, it is free, and it’s a great story to experience with a box of tissues.
