The Queue: BlizzCon 2026 edition

No time to talk. Blizzcon is almost here! Excitement is in the air!

This is The Queue, our daily column where questions get asked about BlizzCon, and answers are given about BlizzCon. At least this time.

LOTHARFOX

QftQ: What do you think Camelot will be?

LOTHARFOX!!! I miss you so much, buddy 😭

Camelot has apparently already been ā€œsolved,ā€ unless we’re all falling victim to an immense hoax. There have been many rumors about it being a project to expand WoW Classic — the fabled Classic+ that people have been speculating about for ages now.

We also do know that several WoW Classic streamers and influencers were invited to Blizzard campus in May 2026, and signed an NDA about what they saw there.

There’s also been a leak, but I’m not gonna discuss that. It’s more fuel to the fire, however.

I don’t know if it’s gonna be called ā€œCamelotā€ in the end: that’s probably just an internal project name. But what will come out of it will most likely be Classic+, in some form. New content being developed for WoW Classic, possibly with new expansions, perhaps including content that was featured in that world but never explored like Karazhan Crypts, Hyjal, etc. We can only speculate at this point, but I think it’s a pretty safe bet now, and I’d be surprised if it turned out to be something else.

LOA-SPEAKER FARADAI

1) What is getting announced for Hearthstone? Are you a monk believer?

2) Follow up: what would you make the hero power for monk? My thought was Paralyze, 2 mana makes a minion have to deal with summoning sickness again. Like it wouldn’t work against minions with Charge but a minion with Rush could only hit a minion, other minions would just skip a turn.

1) Yes, I’m a huge Monk believer. My original predictions also included a Pandaria expansion and Pandaren being added as a new minion type, which would work for both Constructed and Battlegrounds.

However, given the nature of the teasers the Hearthstone team has been releasing, Pandaria and Pandaren seem far more unlikely now. The teasers seem to involve planets, space, and words like ā€œtransform, doubt, shape.ā€

So I’m thinking we get Monks and some sort of cosmos expansion of some sort. Perhaps something where the Titans are building (or rebuilding) planets.

2) As for the hero power, I’m thinking something simple like: 2 mana. Your hero gains 1 attack this turn and restores 2 health when they attack. (The name could be Tiger Palm or Blackout Kick or whatever.)

Not super complex, and fits the fantasy, since Monks in WoW have a lot of those ā€œself-heal when hitting thingsā€ effects. And the power level is comparable to the Druid/Warrior hero powers, since gaining armor is better than healing, and with the Priest hero power, since a targeted heal for 2 is better than a self-only heal for 2.

KALCHEUS

Is the BlizzCon app back this year? Can you watch via the app?

Nope. Blizzard’s official viewership guide mentions nothing about an app, and points users to Twitch or Youtube. They’re even featuring drops as an incentive for viewers to use those platforms.

HIGH DENSITY WAFFLE

Since I have to do things this weekend, is it possible to have the Twitch thing countdown while my PC is in sleep mode?

Not in sleep mode, no. Many of the PC’s basic functions are turned off in sleep mode.

But you can leave a tab opened and earning drops while you AFK, no issue. I’ve done that many times. You might even want to lower the volume and reduce the video quality to something like 360p if you want; it still works.

KELDEREK

Q4tBlizzConQ: I’m curious about the vibe in the convention center. With all of the closures and layoffs and game production shut-downs, is the larger video game industry gloom-&-doom affecting the BlizzCon atttendees?

I’m not at the floor myself, so I can’t answer that. I can, however, steal our own Liz Harper’s answer about the mood:

Blizz workers just got some big union wins that boost wages (a little) and provide some protection against layoffs, so I bet they’re feeling pretty good right now. https://aftermath.site/blizzard-union-contract-warcraft-overwatch-diablo/

Blizzcon QfortheQueue

what was your favorite blizzcon reveal of all time? could be an expac, a game, a feature, etc. feel free to go into extreme detail while I think about the answer to my own question.

Also, what was the biggest letdown?
Don’t you have phones? Haha, actually for me I remember frowning at the mists of pandaria reveal. I ended up liking it ok, but I was not thrilled by the announcement.

Favorite reveal: Overwatch. It was brilliant. It made me extremely excited for a new Blizzard game in a way no other reveal has managed to, to this day. It felt completely different from everything I had come to expect from Blizzard until that point, which was Warcraft, Diablo, and StarCraft, basically. It felt like a real breath of fresh air, an exciting new direction in a very interesting new world, a world that felt hopeful instead of edgy.

Biggest letdown: the Shadowlands reveal, honestly. To this day, it was the only reveal of a WoW expansion that made me less excited about playing the game than I was feeling before seeing it. Seeing the Lich King, one of the biggest names in Warcraft lore, being reduced to an absolute chump that can just be soloed by Sylvanas, all for a cheap ā€œwow, that’s so badassā€ moment in a cinematic, during a time when I had already been waiting for years for her to get some comeuppance and pay for her crimes — instead, she gets the exact opposite of that. That was by far the biggest disappointment I’ve ever felt watching a Blizzard reveal.

It felt like if Game of Thrones had just announced a new season and the trailer showed King Joffrey going beyond the Wall and single-handedly killing the Night King, then doing some badass pose while the camera framed how cool he is.

RAZWICK

How excited are you that they’re bringing Heroes of the Storm back in a big way? /j … /hj?

I uh…

Raz, sit down. We need to talk.

BOVEN WHITEHOOF

What’s the release date for Highmountain Bikini Party?

Highmountain Bikini Party is not getting revealed on BlizzCon 2026. They’re saving that reveal for BlizzCon 2027.

It will follow The Last Titan, and serve as the first expansion on the next saga, the ā€œI’m Le Tired Saga,ā€ featuring three expansions where our characters are in dire need of a break from constantly saving the world and take a series of relaxing vacations: first, we’ll go to the Highmountain Bikini Party. Then we’ll join our host, the returned guardian Medivh, in Seven Nights in Karazhan (which will feature one less raid tier than normal, but will compensate by introducing the Dance Studio). Finally, we’ll reach the dramatic finale of the trilogy in Kun-Lai Snowboarding Xtreme, where Blizzard will finally give us playable Grummles and the proper snowboarding minigame we deserve.

This has been The Queue. And now our watch begins!

Have a great BlizzCon, everyone.
