The Monk class is finally being added to Hearthstone in March 2027
We’re finally getting the Monk class in Hearthstone, in March 2027. The Titans and the August Celestials and the Loa have all answered my prayers! Well, not just mine — Monks in Hearthstone were a highly demanded feature by a large part of the community. People were already assuming they might be announced during BlizzCon 2026. When the teasers about an expansion that had nothing to do with Monks (or Pandaria/Pandaren in general) began prior to BlizzCon some people started to lose hope. And when we saw that the newest expansion is, indeed, about the Black Empire — nothing to do with Monks — hope seemed lost for a moment.
But thankfully, the class is real, and it did get officially announced. We don’t have any details yet: all we have is just a super cool cinematic to watch, and a release date, March 2027, which will likely fall a while after the release of the expansion following Reign of the Black Empire. We still can only speculate on what the hero power will be, and what the cards will look like. But the developers did drop a few hints: the Monk class will apparently be “flexible,” able to “adapt to what’s happening in a game,” and then “pull off some incredible combos when the moment feels just right.” For now, that’s all.
We have to assume that the “default” hero for the Monk class will be Chen Stormstout, as he features heavily in the cinematic — and, frankly, even before the cinematic was shown, that choice was already kinda obvious. But nothing’s confirmed yet, and as soon as we have more information to share, we’ll do it. We’re keeping an eye on BlizzCon 2026, and we can’t contain our excitement that this class if finally going to be here in just a few months.
