The Queue: I’m just so happy
When I was telling Liz that I wouldn’t be able to contribute much to BlizzCon coverage, but I would jump on if there was a Heroes of the Storm announcement, I didn’t expect to have to get to work for the first major news out of the opening ceremonies! I also told her that the article would just be me laughing and then end with an “I told you so.” However, I did manage to contain myself just enough that I kept all of my “I told you so” moments to Discord chats.
Heroes is back, baby! I’ve got my Xal’atath bundle bought, my PTR updated so when she goes live today I can jump on, and I’m ready to shout from the mountaintops that this game continues to deserve your support. It’s the best thing in the MOBA space, hands down, and I love it so much. It’s wonderful to see support for it from the highest point of Blizzard, and it was great to see the crowd pack the seats for the exhibition match between Gen.G. and Dignitas.
While I go hang out in the Nexus, it’s time for — The Queue!
Q4tQ: what was your favorite day 1 BlizzCon 2026 announcement? Pick just one.
Oh… y’know.
Q4TQ: why do you think everyone is scared of C’thun’s yellow parasol? should he consider a different color?
It’s clearly because they all know the story of the King in Yellow and are behaving accordingly. There can be no other response to a yellow parasol, either on the beach or anywhere else. Now, a green parasol, those are all right.
I’m surprised that C’thun doesn’t have some sort of astronaut helment/sunglass combo for his beach trips. That’s a lot of eye to shade. I shudder to think of the sunburn. I guess that’s just going blind though.
Q4tQ: what do you think of the crowd’s fairly muted reaction to the Diablo V announcement?
I have to say, I’m really surprised – and I think the crowd was too, because I doubt this was on anyone’s bingo card. It feels weird to say that it feels like D4 hasn’t been out long enough, because it’s been three years and D5 is still three years away, but still. But I’m also old enough to remember a time when a sequel taking six years to come out would have been incredibly long.
It’s a long time for sure. That’s so far away; I don’t know what I’ll be doing at the end of the decade. Maybe I’ll have given up playing video games! Unlikely, but you never know.
With Diablo 4 just into another expansion, it’s both the right time to announce a sequel and too soon. There’s a lot of time between D4 now and Diablo 5 then. So much time that it feels like you could squeeze one more expansion in between to better set up the cataclysmic conflict that has occurred to get us to D5. I’m not saying that defeating Mephisto isn’t a good way to end D4, but I wouldn’t say no to a few more breadcrumbs over the other Prime Evils showing up again in full force.
Also, just another “we told you so”; it was on our BlizzCon Bingo Card. Is Mitch a prophet? Sources are pointing to yes.
Q4tQ: What does your Blizzcon Timewalking say about you?
They really needed a bunch of data for long-time Heroes of the Storm players, because my Hearthstone stuff is just sad. Also, it’s told me that I’ve earned a bunch of gold in Classic, but I’ve never played Classic. So unless it’s talking about original Warcraft — I think some Goblins got their wires crossed.
It’s a neat feature, and I do really like seeing that I am in the 99th percentile for HoTS players. That felt great! Especially because it’s higher than Mitch.
Q4tQ are we going to call it ReWrath?
WRemix. The W is silent.
Question for the Q: Am I wrong in wanting item sets in Diablo 4 or 5? I know people complain about they either being useless or being too OP, but I really enjoy the fantasy of my Barbarian having the IK set, I don’t care if it’s not bis or anything
Not wrong at all.
Class fantasy is important, and getting your hands on the biggest, baddest, and most awesome armor out there is a good way to tie yourself in with the legends of old. It was a bold design choice to move away from class sets in D4, and I understand what they were going for — it just didn’t wind up working out. People like having the aspirational four-piece and six-piece armor bonuses to build towards. I understand that it meant that there could be more variety in builds because you weren’t tied to most players having the same six pieces going, but it wound up not being as cool. Which is kind of the whole point, I thought!
Q4tQ: What’s the best convention food? Is it something handheld and easy to eat, like pizza or a burger? Or is it something nutritional like a poke bowl with fresh vegetables and fish? Or is it the humble granola bar you can carry in with you, because convention food is overpriced, and nothing beats a quick bite when time is money?
Usually it’s the food trucks, burgers, pizza, bowls of stuff, or food on a stick are all great portable meals and can be nice and filling. They’re going to be portable and hopefully less expensive than whatever convention vendors are built into the actual building. It’s like going to the airport sometimes: just because I’m in a building through a security checkpoint doesn’t mean you should get to charge 20 bucks for a gas station sandwich. I do say hopefully less expensive because I’ve seen some outrageous food truck prices out there. Which is a symptom of food inflation in general, but it doesn’t mean I have to like it. As always, the best bang for your buck is smuggling in smaller snack-type things you could buy in bulk from Costco.
Just make sure it doesn’t need to stay cool; those lines get hot.

Today’s Bacardi is completely unbothered by all of the big video game news out there. It’s all the same to him; he’ll do his job, and you do yours, and maybe you’ll get a shiny Epic skin in your Heroes box. Just make sure you keep the treats flowing and the attention mostly on him.
Would you rather:
Get to go to the big convention for free, but always have to wait in a line for the bathroom
Or
Watch the live streams of the big convention, but have no bathroom lines.
