The Queue: Dalaran Cosmic Power, Make Up!
I just love a good glittery magic girl transformation sequence.
This is The Queue, our daily column where you ask us questions and 私たちは答えを提供します (though honestly, sometimes I prefer the dub).
Q4TQ: Can I purchase Warcraft Forever with gold from my retail WoW characters if I don’t have a current WoW retail account?
This is kind of a tricky question, because WoW Forever is technically free, but you need an active retail account to play.
If you want to reactivate your sub with gold, you can. If you boot Retail, the character select screen should give you the option to buy a token with the gold on your characters. I’m not sure whether you’re able to pool your gold from the character select screen — like if one character has 50K and another has 70K, if you’re able to still purchase one for 100K.
And actually, I’m not sure whether you’ll be able to buy tokens in WoW Forever with Forever gold. We’ll add it to the pile of questions to answer when we get our grubby hands on the beta builds.
Q4tQ: Do we know if factions will be completely separated in Forever?
Beta starts the 17th.
I’m not sure exactly what you mean by separated. Yes, there will be an Alliance and a Horde, and yes, they’ll have discrete leveling paths, like the Horde will level through Silverpine and the Alliance will level through Loch Modan. But, like the original game, they’ll also meet in the middle, both in places like the Arathi Highlands, where they have unique faction quest givers, and Booty Bay, where the quest givers are a third faction that’s neutral to everyone.
The new places — Hyjal, Dalaran, etc, — will likely be a mix. Dalaran itself will likely be neutral. I’d be surprised if they added in factional “quarters” like Wrath, though Dalaran was initially fairly sympathetic to the Alliance so we’ll see whether they gate off parts of the city from the Horde. I wonder whether we’ll see a similar push-pull with the factions in Hyjal as we see in Ashenvale. That’s a lot of perfectly good lumber the elves are just letting sit there.
Q4tQ there was a tease of a new hero in HotS after Xal’atath. Any guesses as to who it will be?
If there was an actual tease, like how sometimes they used to add like, footsteps or part of a silhouette at the end of the previous trailer, I didn’t catch it.
In a guessing mood, I would say either Kiriko or Juno from Overwatch, because the world could always use more Supports.
The main issue of adding new Heroes is that we already have a lot of them, and many iconic characters are kinda samey to others in both moves and flavor at this point. Alleria would be great if we didn’t already have a Demon Hunter and Sylvanas who both have similar flavor and moves. Turalyon or Faerin or Arator would be great if Johanna wasn’t already there. Lilith might be unique, but there might be a lot of overlap with Mephisto or even Kerrigan. Maybe Moira? Maybe the other Moira?
QftQ – What does the term “Horizontal Progression” mean to you?
Title of my sex tape.
Q4tQ do you think the Dwarf Hunter in the Forever trailer got in trouble for abandoning his post?
He’s the stand in for us, so technically he’s done everything from summoning Stitches to encouraging Garrosh to become Warchief, but if Moira Bronzebeard didn’t say anything while they were being besties with the Earthen, he’s probably good. If you imperil the world a few dozen times but also save it, it kinda balances out. At least, that’s what I plan to tell the FBI when it comes up.
