The Epic Games Store is giving away TerraScape and Out Of Sight for free this week

Every week the Epic Games Store gives away a game or two for free. This week, they’re giving us a cozy city builder puzzle game and a creepy FPS puzzle game for free.

  • TerraScape
    • Release Date: July 17, 2024
    • Game Type: Puzzle, Casual, Cozy
    • POV: 3rd person, hex, isometric
    • Party: Single Player, co-op, PVP
    • DLC: The Ancient Egypt DLC offers a new map and monuments (the OST is available on Steam as well).

TerraScape occupies a space somewhere between a Civ-like, and a casual puzzle builder like Dorfromantik or Islanders. The gameplay works based on placing buildings in a hex grid, in (hopefully) the most advantageous spots to grow your civilizations, based around a deck of drawn “cards.” There are also options for co-op, which is nice, and PVP, which seems directly counter to the whole cozy casual society vibe. I will likely queue once, immediately get shellacked by some rando, and never queue again. Fun for the whole family?

  • Out Of Sight
    • Release Date: May 22, 2025
    • Game Type: Puzzle, Adventure
    • POV: First and Third person?
    • Party: Single Player
    • DLC: The Stage Fright DLC is an additional set of narrative puzzles available for purchase.

Out of Sight features a very unique hook. The main character you’re playing is a blind little girl, but she can see through her teddy bear. She usually holds her bear clutched to her chest, which means a sort-of FPS situation, only your point of view is very low to the ground. However, she can also set the bear down to get a completely different perspective on a problem in a third person view, though it’s still first person, because your perspective is still inside the bear. Your objective is to make your way out of a creepy house and unravel its mysteries as you do. The first mystery is probably “why and how does this little girl see through a teddy bear; that’s weird.”
