The Queue: It’s Thursday (again)
Yesterday was Wednesday, and to be honest I wasn’t sure how we managed to get halfway through the week without me noticing. But now it’s Thursday and we’ve gotten more than halfway through the week without me noticing.
Time is tough, man. Who can keep track of this stuff? I’m not a clock.
But I do know it’s Thursday, which means it’s time for me to write the Queue, our daily Q&A column where I do my best to answer your (mostly) gaming (mostly) questions. Let’s get started.
Q4tQ With Lothraxion’s death do you think the writers of WoW are abandoning the Nathrezim plot we discovered in the Shadowlands? Or was his death part of the plot?
I feel like you may be overestimating the amount of continuity here. World of Warcraft is well-known for dropping plot threads expansion to expansion, and seeing as the creative team did a big shift going into The War Within and Worldsoul Saga trilogy, with Steve Danuser going out and Chris Metzen coming in. I think that potentially means that earlier story threads are likely to be left in the dust.
So… I’d say Nathrezim plot is up in the air. Will it come up again soon and tie into Lothraxion’s maybe-betrayal? Maybe. But there are equal odds it won’t come up for another three expansions. I don’t think there’s anything to do except wait and see.
Q4TQ: How long can each first and last name be in Warcraft Forever?
I went and checked, and it’s 12 characters each, just like Draconicman said in the comments.
There’s currently a big ol wall of Joro spider web between me and the neighbors. It’s like a spider fence, it’s just real neat, man
Video games have taught me that a flamethrower is the only solution to this problem. So maybe it will be a cheerfully soot-colored halloween? Warm with the autumn glow of flames? You could make this work.
Q4tQ: What is it about planning or theorycrafting with games that is so satisfying?
Real life is so often so far out of our control, but a video game that focuses on planning, everything is within your control. It’s nice to have fixed, static rules to follow, and to be able to lay everything out perfectly with in them, just the way you want.
How often can you do that in real life? It will happen occasionally but it isn’t common to be able to find perfection in reality.
And that’s what makes that kind of game so satisfying. You are in complete control, in a world where we so rarely have it. Enjoy it while you can, in the virtual space.
That’s all for today, my friends! Take care and I’ll see you in the comments section.
