When is WoW: Midnight patch 12.1.7 release date? Our best guess is December 2026
It’s already time to talk about World of Warcraft patch 12.1.7: Echoes of the Worldcore. Blizzard has wasted no time in propelling Midnight along to its inevitable conclusion by announcing patch 12.1.7 (some of which we already knew about from BlizzCon), a light-weight patch that adds new story quests, the Talebound gameplay mode, more Lorewalking and Timewalking, and some other fun features.
But the biggest question everyone has about the next patch is: when is the patch 12.1.7 release date? Unfortunately, we don’t have a definitive answer yet. But Blizzard is pretty consistent about patch cadence, and according to the latest World of Warcraft roadmap, patch 12.1.7 will go live in late autumn or early winter. With that in mind, likely that patch 12.1.7 will launch on December 8, 2026 (for NA players).
Now, let’s talk about what’s actually in the upcoming WoW patch.
What’s coming in WoW patch 12.1.7?
If you’re wondering what we can expect in patch 12.1.7, a here’s the big picture overview of the patch’s major features:
- Players return to Dornogal in a brand-new Story Campaign where Arator, Brinthe, Dagran, and Brann follow Xal’atath’s
footstepstrail to the Worldcore. - Relive — and try to survive — the Storyteller’s spooky stories in Talebound, a new PVE Action-RPG game mode
- …and yes, it has its own currency, Bound Silver.
- Several new Lorewalking Quests involving Jaina, Thrall, the Titans, and Tyr.
- Turbulent Timeways is back! Again!
- This time, players can receive the Markeet of the Infinite mount for anyone who maintains Mastery of the Timeways for any four weeks during the eight-week event.
- Plus, new Decor items and a chance for a Heroic-level Cache of Quel-Thalas Treasures.
- The Omnium Folio omni-unfolds with expanded capabilities
- Players can earn two additional Motes of Omnial Inquiry.
- Two additional Runes have also been added: Rune of Empowerment and Rune of Critical Mass.

Blizzard continues to inundate players with new features and story updates at a breakneck pace. And as excited as I am for all things spooky, I’d be okay if we slowed down a little between patches. My house misses me, Blizzard!
