The Queue: Time is weird, man

For some of you, time has changed. Clocks have fallen back, and somehow the powers that be have granted you another hour of life. Of course, they’ll take it back in a few months, but enjoy it until then!

For people in some Canadian provinces, we’re just not doing daylight saving any more. I had no time change at all, no extra hour, and you’d think no extra confusion! However, somehow that isn’t the case. My phone worked right and kept the time it was supposed to; my lady friend’s phone, not so much. My computer that I’m writing this on has fallen back, and my Xbox fell back and couldn’t be convinced to not fall back. All of these will get ironed out in the coming days, hopefully, but what’s really weird is that now I’m basically on Central Time, and that’s super odd.

It won’t be so bad; it’ll mainly confuse me when I jump on the BlizzardWatch podcast, as now I join that an hour later. At least until Spring, when I’ll go back to my old time. I’m so glad that we’re not doing anything confusing like Daylight Saving Time anymore.

While I go mess with other fundamental forces of nature, it’s time for our daily question-and-answer column — The Queue!

EVERY MORNING THERE’S A HALO HANGIN’ FROM THE CORNER OF LEFTY’S FOUR-POST BED

QftQ: Which are you, Linda or Bob? I’m Bob.

Embedding the scene was a pain, so to recap: Linda has the Christmas tree up the day after Halloween, and Bob doesn’t seem super thrilled about that.

I’m a Bob for sure. Christmas should give Halloween some space! It should certainly give Remembrance Day on the 11th some space. If you absolutely have to, after the 11th is fine. I still think it should hold to the end of November, though. I super don’t love seeing all of the stores putting out Christmas merch in August.

It’s like that meme about getting into a new hobby and how your $100 investment isn’t even that much, like you can spare $500, right? That $500 will be the best $2100 you ever spent. Except it’s the length of the Christmas season.

Bah, humbug.

I KNOW IT’S NOT MUSEDMOOSE BUT I’LL SEE IF I CAN USE IT FOR THE WEEKEND OR A ONE-NIGHT STAND

Q4tQ: what in-WoW graphical asset thingy would you like to have as housing decor?

I’d like to have the broken windows from the depths of Ulduar. The shards of glass are just sort of hanging there in the air, and I feel like that’d be a great way to say “you can go into this room, but do you really want to?” which is an essential part of decorating.

All of the cool blood effects from around Revendreth! Also, all of the cool tentacle effects from Old God stuff. Basically, if it looks evil and menacing, lemme slap that up around my house. What else are houses for?

I just think the Void is neat, is all.

ONCE AGAIN AS PREDICTED, LEFT MY BROKEN HEART OPEN AND KALCHEUS RIPPED IT OUT

Q4TQ should sportsball leagues enact Zeus’ Law to protect visitors of the opposing franchise?

I mean, yeah, but that’s just like regular laws.

Unless you mean specifically in the case of a Florida Panther fan visiting Edmonton, in which case what happens is on their own head, and may god have mercy on their souls.

KALCHEUS SAID THAT WE CAN DO IT YOU KNOW I WANNA DO IT AGAIN

Q4tQ What do you think of the new Blizz policy of being too lazy to write an article keeping the upcoming Trading Post contents (except for the track reward) a secret?

It’s not a huge deal. You’ve got the tenders you’ve got, and in theory, the things you’re going to spend them on are things you want to some degree. They’re not going to expire or fail to roll over, so the only pressure you’re feeling is your own. It shouldn’t matter if they give you advance notice or not. I don’t think it’s laziness or secretiveness, though; I think it’s just that they’re having a busy posting time with Forever on the horizon and saving all of their bandwidth for it. You don’t want to flood your channel and have things get missed.

I do get people wanting the heads-up on things, though. It’s nice to be able to make more informed spending decisions. There’s got to be a better way.

DRAYGONIA SOMETHING SO DECEIVIN’ WHEN YOU STOP BELIEVIN’

What makes you walk away from a long-term game like WoW?

I’ve been fairly on-all-the-time since The War Within launched, but I gave the new Labyrinth a try after waiting a bit for the bugs to get squashed and…it just didn’t grab me. Realized I need to step away and get some other stuff done for a week or several.

I’ve done it a couple of times, and it’s just kinda breaking a pattern. All of a sudden, I missed something that I couldn’t get again, and I thought that was a good spot to stop. It wasn’t a super conscious decision, just more things outside of the game taking my attention and fewer things keeping me playing all hours of the day/night. One day I just didn’t play, then another passed, and then a week, and so on. Maybe it was a lack of compelling content, maybe things were too samey after the last few expansions, maybe enough of my friends had also moved away and found other things to do.

Bacardi is recuperating after all the ghouls and goblins who visited the house last night. I heard it wasn’t our busiest year, but there were apparently a fair amount of kids who came by. And most of those kids left un-maimed! What a good kitty; he may even share his share of the candy spoils with y’all if you ask nicely.
