The Queue: Clearly the next expansion

Welcome back to The Queue, our daily Q&A feature for all of Blizzard’s games! Have a question for the Blizzard Watch staff? Leave it in the comments!

PEPE STORMSTOUT ASKED:

Which Gul’dan is the best Gul’dan, and why? Main universe, alternate universe (Warlords of Draenor) or movie universe? Which Gul’dan is the One Gul’dan to rule them all, One Gul’dan to find them, One Gul’dan to bring them all and with the blood-curse bind them?

As of Chronicle, main universe and alternate universe Gul’dan aren’t so different. Still, what they did played out differently, so I’ll treat them differently. I think main universe Gul’dan got the most done because the overpowered World of Warcraft player characters weren’t there to stop him. He got to run rampant for longer than any other Gul’Dan. Alternate Universe Gul’dan was a punk and his crew kept getting punked and the only reason he was able to get anything done is because Khadgar gave us bad advice such as “free Gul’dan.”

Movie Gul’dan was pretty cool, but because it was a movie, his accomplishments had to be redcued in scope. We’re not likely to ever see him at the Tomb of Sargeras, etc.

@CORDONUS ASKED:

What are the horde and alliance armor and weapons made out of? I thought thorium but do they use new materials like us every exp?

We don’t have any information about this, honestly. I’d guess the guards in places like Orgrimmar and Stormwind would use steel. It’s the most practical, accessible resource on Azeroth. If Azerothian thorium is anything like real world thorium, it wouldn’t make good armor at all. We used it in crafting, but I don’t know why. Metal thorium’s real world applications aren’t particularly significant. We use it in other forms. And someone working with thorium en masse in a forge or foundry with Azeroth’s level of technology is probably going to die from a variety of cancers. Having no filtration system for thorium particulate is going to be a respiratory nightmare.

Of all the metals we’ve used in Azeroth with real world equivalents, good steel is probably the best of them for swords and armor even if iron and steel are “low level” crafting materials for the player.

That said, we’re in a warzone and people need new weapons and armor, the rank and file of the military probably end up using whatever the Horde and Alliance can get their hands on. Stuck in Northrend? Saronite’ll get it done.

@CORDONUS ALSO ASKED:

Orisa Vs Mass Effect:Andromeda. Both release on the same day, who wins?

If someone has interest in both, my vote is for Andromeda for sure. Andromeda is a whole new game with a new story and new characters, and if you have friends with the same interests, playing it right off the bat is like going to a movie you’re excited about, or binging a new Netflix show. Part of the fun is geeking out with your friends about it. You can play it later, but you’ll miss that climax of excitement. I binged as much Andromeda as I could on launch day partially because I’m excited, partially because I knew my friends were doing the same.

Orisa is just a new Overwatch character. That’s cool, definitely! But Orisa will still be there later — and maybe you’ll have an easier time actually being able to play her after the hype trickles down. People are going to be instalocking Orisa due to newness.

If you don’t be equal interest in both, then play whatever you want.

@INTABIH ASKED:

If I am a filthy casual playing a balance Druid, how do I keep from getting kicked from normal 5-mans for low DPS?

I don’t play a Balance Druid and thus have no meaningful advice beyond “push your buttons.” I’m including this, though, in the hopes someone in the comments can help you out.
