PlayersCut interviews Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan

Korean site PlayersCut had the opportunity to interview Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan over the weekend at PAX East, and have posted the short interview to their Youtube channel. In the fast paced interview, Kaplan is allowed to respond to questions with a yes, no, or “I don’t know” regarding Blizzard’s latest title in development. I love these kinds of interviews because a lot of information gets covered very, very quickly with solid answers. Even if the question is one they can’t answer, or don’t have an answer for, they still have a quick option to keep the interview moving.

I’m particularly pleased to see that the question of whether or not Overwatch would get any kind of animated series drew an “I don’t know,” rather than a flat no — it might not mean anything in the long run, as Kaplan is a game director, and not on the cinematics team, but it made me happy to see that at least it’s something that hasn’t already been solidly scratched off the table. The Overwatch trailer at BlizzCon was a resounding hit and immediately made me want to see more of the two kids that were caught in the museum with Tracer and Winston — I’d love to see their further adventures detailed one day, whether it be through an animated series, comics series, or some other form.
