Patch 6.2: Admiral Taylor’s Greatsword to be transmoggable

(Warning: Mild Alliance Spires of Arak questing spoilers.)

Community Manager Rygarius confirmed today what many Alliance players had been hoping for: the Greatsword of beloved NPC Admiral Taylor will be available for transmogrification in Patch 6.2. Roleplaying fans have been calling for this since it became a quest reward out of the Spires of Arak for Alliance players, but Blizzard hasn’t moved on the request because the color scheme wouldn’t work for Horde players. Until now.

Rygarius also confirmed that a Horde equivalent of the weapon will be available in the upcoming patch as a treasure in the new quest zone, the Tanaan Jungle. If you had received the weapon as a quest reward as Alliance and have since vendored it, Rygarius assures us there will be a way to get it back. Likely it will be through a vendor.

Why such love for Admiral Taylor’s Greatsword? Besides a great looking graphic and flavor text that mimics the real life sword Blizzard employees receive for 5 years of service with the company, many Alliance players feel a connection to the NPC who was first introduced to them in Cataclysm. He was instrumental in the Anduin Wrynn storyline that served as a introduction to Pandaria for the Alliance, but his story takes a tragic turn in Draenor ending with him becoming an undead garrison follower.
