The Queue: Cannot be tamed

Welcome back to The Queue, the Q&A column for all things Blizzard related. If you have a question for the Queue, leave a comment and you may see it answered!

Words can’t express how much I really wanted to tame Immol’thar over in Dire Maul  — I mean, look at that guy, he’s all eyeballs! Alas, he is a demon, so it was never meant to be. Someday I’ll have a giant slobbering dog monster. Someday.

JPEC07 ASKED:

Q4tQ: If you had complete creative freedom to rework the library of old content in WoW (the zones, dungeons, and gameplay balance from levels 1-90), what would you do with it?

There is not enough space in this column to go over that with the amount of detail that is in my head. Sorry!

THEBL4CKDOG ASKED:

Q4TQ: I’m a lvl 100 combat Rogue, pretty much geared via some pieces from Heroic Highmaul and the rest via LFR BRF. I was thinking about soloing 25m Heroic ICC on a weekly basis to farm Invincible. Is there anything I should worry about soloing it, or should it pretty much be a cakewalk? Only thing I ever have issues with is that knockback Arthas does. Aside from that, most fights have been cake…

Oh you’ll be just fine! I plowed through that place a month or so after hitting 100 and things were exploding all over the place. Mind you, my rogue is Assassination, but the same thing pretty much applies for all of my sneaky backstabbing brethren. Keep in mind that you can just skip the green dragon altogether — stealth by her, hit the elevator in the back and head straight to Sindragosa. That knockback from Arthas shouldn’t be an issue, just make sure you’re killing the frost wisp sphere things before they hit you. Fan of Knives took care of that nicely for me, but if you they hit you, that’s what’s going to knock you back. If you do enough damage (and with your gar, I’m sure you do), you won’t even see a Defile. Have fun storming the … citadel!

GALDWYNN ASKED:

Q4tQ: Do you think the Dungeon Journal (specifically for LFR) should be more specific for tanks?  Tank swapping is a common fight mechanic and I can never remember how many stacks I should wait for to taunt the boss off the other tank.  So, I’m usually trying to sift through details on a webpage before each fight.  Just put it in the journal, or allow me to make notes in the journal.  That’s what journals are for right?

Well … yes and no. The Dungeon Journal is there to let you know what to watch for on a fight — but it’s not meant to be a tutorial or a step-by-step game guide. If it told you exactly how to do the fight, the fight wouldn’t exactly be any kind of meaningful challenge, would it? Also, from my days of raiding, tank swaps were kind of a subjective thing that depended on which tanks we brought, what class they were, how geared they were, and which healers happened to show up that day. It wasn’t an arbitrary number, it was the tank paying attention to their health and whatever debuff they were watching for, and calling out when the other tank needed to snag the boss.

@ZEBRAMAN674 ASKED VIA TWITTER:

What makes a Banshee Queen different from other undead?

Sylvanas is the only Banshee Queen, and she earned that title due to the circumstances surrounding her death. When she died, Arthas brought her back from the dead, but he raised her as a banshee, with no corporeal body. When the Lich King’s hold faltered over the Scourge during the Third War, Sylvanas regained her free will, and went looking for her body to reclaim it. That’s when she became the Sylvanas we know today — and it’s also when she began to rally the rest of the freed scourge of undead into the Forsaken, becoming their leader and Queen.

The rest of the Forsaken are pretty much just people that were killed and raised from the dead, bodies and all.

MYTHRIAK ASKED:

Q4tQ: Can we have more reply layers in the comments? Only two make some long talks really hard to understand.

We actually only have two for a very good reason — there’s a fixed width to the site columns, and when we didn’t have that limit established, the replies would simply keep layering out indefinitely. That meant that eventually they’d get to the point where they’d only display one character per line, which is hardly what I’d call legible. Sorry!

@TOBYWC ASKED VIA TWITTER:

Lost track of what’s going on in Draenor, who’s dead, is Garrosh dead, what we doing there, who we trying to stop?

Who is dead: A lot of Iron Horde, pretty much every Warlord leader except for Grommash and Kilrogg.

Is Garrosh dead: Yes, yes he is. Thrall killed him in Nagrand, with our help.

What are we doing there: Well, we were trying to stop the Iron Horde and disable it before it could launch another attack on Azeroth. However, we’ve whittled their armies down to the point that some of the Iron Horde have actually gone back to Gul’dan and had a sip of the green Kool-aid, and are now allied with the Burning Legion. So now, as of patch 6.2 anyway, we’re fighting the last vestiges of the Iron Horde, fel-tainted and twisted, as well as the Burning Legion, and anyone else the Legion may have corrupted along the way.

Who are we trying to stop: I think it’s safe to say that answer is now the Burning Legion. They’ve kind of swept the Iron Horde back into the fold, with very few exceptions. To his credit, Grommash Hellscream was one of the people that still refused to drink the blood of Mannoroth, and though his fate remains to be seen, he’s not friendly with the Legion at all.

That’s it for today’s Queue — if you have any questions you’d like to see answered, be sure to leave them in the comments below!
