The Queue: WoW Tokens, Diablo in Heroes of the Storm, and more

Welcome back to The Queue, our daily Q&A feature! Have a question for the Blizzard Watch staff? Leave it in the comments and we may choose it for tomorrow’s edition!

@BULLETCATCHER02 ASKED:

with the current Diablo focus in HotS, who would you recommend as the first Diablo support hero?

I have to admit, my knowledge of Diablo is limited to The Butcher (because I couldn’t get past him in the original game as a small child) and the contents of Diablo 3. Based on that limited knowledge, I could see Leah, Deckard Cain, or angels such as Auriel and Itherael as support characters. Personally, I support more angels solely because I think their aesthetic is super cool.

@RICHARDKURNIEJ ASKED:

what other character services do you think blizz will add to tokens?  Eg appearance change,  realm change etc?

While I wouldn’t mind those services being added to the token, I personally doubt they’ll use tokens for anything but gametime. Of all of the paid services, the token is actually one of the cheaper options — adding more uses to the token would screw with its entire economy. The gold prices for tokens in the US is low, but it’s almost twice that in Europe, and astronomically more in Asian regions. The token is probably at its best when it serves one purpose.

Like I said, though, I wouldn’t mind if those services were added to the token. I’d like to race change some of my characters but there’s no way I’m going to spend real money on that. If I’m desperate to change, I’m more likely to delete the character and reroll, even if they’re max level.

@LAGOWATU ASKED:

Do you think playing a character 1-90 with no heirlooms or other help teaches you a lot more about a class than boosting to 90?

Honestly? Playing my warlock on the livestream, leveling 1-90 has confused me more than taught me anything. Spells are learned in strange orders. You get ability procs before you get the abilities they proc, which means you can’t use the things flashing on your character. Nothing about the experience has taught me how to play that character. I always end up spending a little time after the livestream reading up on the new spells I learned. I don’t feel anything inside the game itself teaches a person how to play; you pick up the absolute basics that will allow you to kill a mob on your own, and everything else after that takes research outside of the game. The strange order in which you learn spells on certain classes 1-90 does not help at all.

@NORTHERNPLATO ASKED:

is there a catch-up mechanism for alts on the legendary quest drop items? Such as increased drop rate or amount?

Yes! I don’t think Blizzard has given exact numbers — or any real specifics at all — but supposedly, you get more of the necessary items per drop on your alts after your main has completed that step of the legendary quest chain. Your drops will be clusters of items more often than just a few.

@MARC1642 ASKED:

can a new casual player get into hots quick games right away or should I spam practice with ia a few weeks first?

I’m guessing you meant AI. You don’t have to do AI games for weeks, but I would recommend at least a handful of games against the AI to learn the maps if nothing else. Map objectives are the name of the game in Heroes of the Storm, and if you don’t even know how they work, that’s going to be a problem. Likewise, it might not hurt to do an AI match or two when you try out a new hero. Your teammates might not appreciate you trying out your spells for the first time on the fly.
