The Queue: Scandal & Sleaze

Welcome back to The Queue, our daily Q&A feature for all of Blizzard’s games! Have a question for the Blizzard Watch staff? Leave it in the comments!

If that headline piqued your interest … I’m sorry to disappoint. There isn’t much scandal or sleaze in today’s Queue. However, I’m attending the Scandal & Sleaze event at the Milwaukee Public Museum tonight and I’m stoked.

BATTLEMAGE ASKED:

With the new xmog system and getting back old quest items….Does that include old quest items no longer in the game? i.e. The 2h mace from the old lvl 20-ish Pally questline that took you though old DM, SFK, etc?

I believe their intention is we get those, yes. The weapon models are still in the game, and the items are still in the game in the sense that players who’ve held onto them this whole time still have them. While you can’t acquire Verigan’s Fist anymore, it does still exist. In theory, those should all appear in the wardrobe.

Personally, I expect there will be a few outliers — some ancients quests that maybe weren’t recorded properly, some specific items or events that will remain exclusive, whatever. But we’ll likely get the vast majority of those old items.

SALLYBOWLS1 ASKED:

can <100 toons go to another garrison and learn the mass milling recipes?  On the precast, Eeyore/Alex was manually milling to the confusion of chat.

Apparently, you can! To my defense, I never actually looked into how mass milling worked. I figured my macros had me covered pretty well, so I kept using them! Yes, mass milling is one of those things you learn from the garrison traders. My level 94 scribe could visit someone else’s garrison when the herb trader is around and grab the mass milling recipes.

MYTHRIAK ASKED:

Can we say that our level 90 or 100 boosted Draenei chars as being from AU!Draenor?

Sure. It’s roleplay. The only limitations are what you want you want to do — and what your fellow roleplayers are willing to accept. I’d accept someone’s Draenei being from Warlords Draenor. I wouldn’t accept someone’s Draenei secretly being the dragon lovechild of Alexstrasza and Elune.

KEVINKAZ ASKED:

Were there any situations in game where an OU Draenei met their AU Draenei self?  I can’t think of any, and maybe Blizzard took the “thou shalt not meet thyself” approach, but I also don’t see how it would be a problem if they did.

Nope. Prior to the release of Warlords, Blizzard was very specific that such a thing would never happen. They didn’t do a particularly good job explaining the time travel/alternate universe scenario as it is — including those duplicate character moments probably wouldn’t have helped the people who already had a hard time understanding it. And no matter how straightforward some of us found the scenario, you only had to sit in a public chat channel in-game for a few minutes to see how many people had no idea what the hell was going on in the first few months of Warlords.

Heck, even now, I bet you’ll see non-trolling questions in public chat channels from people who don’t know how Warlords works. It’s time travel, right? So we caused like a million paradoxes? Oh, it’s an alternate universe? So how is Gul’dan getting to Azeroth? Isn’t Archimonde already dead? Is he dead now? Did we kill him this time? Where do Garonas come from?
