The Queue: Inferno
Welcome back to The Queue, our daily Q&A feature for all of Blizzard’s games! Have a question for the Blizzard Watch staff? Leave it in the comments!
So my question is one I haven’t been able to find the answer to and is part lore, part speculation and part…..uh science nerd stuff. When I walk to the forge area of Ironforge, I’ve often wondered, how hot is it in here. So that’s my question, in that enormous cavern, with the rivers of lava and almost no airflow (from what I can see) do you think it would be bearable for a human? You that aren’t basically descendants of rocks. Thanks!
The central area of Ironforge would likely be unbearably hot for anybody other than the dwarves. I believe it has been described as such in some of the novels, too. No doubt, the entirety of Ironforge would be sweltering, but you’d need some sort of heavy duty protection (or magical wards) to hang out around the forge.
It’d be the sort of thing that’d curl a dwarven beard.
What is the expiration date on the Star Wars movie spoilers? Is there a moderator-specified time limit to banning discussion of the movie? I ask, because although now it’s very fresh and spoilers are generally unwelcome, in a week that line gets blurry, and after New Years it’s even blurrier still.
Maybe just don’t talk about Star Wars here? I mean, we let The Queue be a place where people yammer about whatever, and that’s fine by me. I know there’s a perception that The Queue is our official off-topic section, but it really isn’t. We’re just okay with people talking about what they want as long as everyone is having a good time. This place is still primarily focused on Blizzard Entertainment’s games and we have oodles of people asking that we don’t discuss Star Wars spoilers. Can’t we simply be considerate and not discuss that? Is it so hard to put that into the off-limits category?
I think we’re in common decency territory. It’s a highly anticipated film and some people are more or less able to go see a movie on a whim. I’m one of those people that can’t go out and see a movie whenever I want. They’re expensive. Just don’t talk about it. If you must talk about it, go to a Star Wars forum and jump in whatever thread they might have about spoiler discussion. That’s a hell of a lot more reasonable than asking people to stop leaving comments in The Queue if they don’t want spoilers for something completely unrelated to our site. The people who want to read/participate in the comments in peace belong here a hell of a lot more than the people who insist on being disruptive with spoilers for unrelated media. Be kind. Rewind. And if you absolutely must, I believe Dan O’Halloran is working on a post for The Tavern with his thoughts and y’all can coalesce over there.
And anyone that brings up what I said on the podcast: I have no idea if that happens. I haven’t seen the movie. I know nothing about it except John Boyega’s face makes for awesome reaction pictures on Twitter. I said it was a joke at the time and it was. When we recorded that podcast, nobody in the world could have possibly seen the film unless they worked for Disney. I definitely do not work for Disney. For all I know, BB-8 is actually a miniaturized Death Star being driven by a teeny tiny Emperor Palpatine. If you haven’t seen the movie, go into it assured I Don’t Know Jack.
what are you gonna main in Legion?
I haven’t decided yet, but I imagine it’ll go the same way Mists of Pandaria and Warlords of Draenor did. That is, I level my Paladin first with every intent of it being my main, but then I get bored of it and switch to my Rogue.
Favorite crockpot recipe for gaming?
I wouldn’t say it’s “for gaming” but my favorite thing to make in a crock pot comes in two stages. First, a simple pork (or beef) roast with carrots and potatoes. Eat some of that for one meal. The next day, take all of your leftovers, throw it in a pot with some barley and make a thick, heavy stew. I like it best when there’s no liquid left at all. That stew will then last a few more days and it’s absolutely delicious.
I’m a simple man who likes simple things. A roast followed by days of hearty stew is a beautiful thing.
Do you have playlists for different activities? Dailies, rep-grinding, AI matches? Or do you stick to in-game music?
I tend to watch YouTube on my second monitor while doing the examples provided — those simple, mostly brainless tasks. I watch more YouTube than television — I have huge, huge respect for many of those content creators and groups like The Yogscast are all hilarious. Music, I tend to reserve for writing. Usually it’s instrumental (whether that be classical, chillstep, whatever), but sometimes when writing fiction, I’ll make a playlist for a specific character to help me get into their head. For example, here’s one of my Spotify playlists.
I’ll only listen to the in-game music for a couple weeks after the release of a new expansion/zone. As good as the in-game music might be, I play WoW way too much to not get sick of it after awhile. It’s like when you find a new favorite song, play it a thousand times in a row on loop, and suddenly you never want to hear it again.
