Breakfast Topic: Gaming with the other

I’ve been playing WoW for over a decade now, and dating and/or married to my wife for even longer. In college, when WoW came out, she dismissed the game as silly (and she really didn’t like killing animals in the game — one of the many reasons I love her). I have tried now and again to get her to play it with me, as the game has morphed into a rather important part of my life.

It only makes sense I would want to share this with her. After all, she’s the most important part of my life. Sharing important things is what good couples do. And while she’s even let me make a sizable business out of the details surrounding the game, when it comes down to actually playing it with me, she still just looks at me oddly and says that this is just my thing.

So dear readers, tell us; has your significant other ever gone from that sidelong “you’re cute” smile to fully engrossed in raiding and slaying internet dragons full of pixels? How long did it take? Is this something I should just give up on and hope I can get my future kids hooked on WoW?
