Overwatch animated short Recall now available

The first Overwatch animated short, Recall, is now available for your viewing pleasure on the Xbox YouTube channel. This short is split into two parts — present day Winston struggling with a world without the Overwatch organization after the Omnic Crisis while under assault by Talon and Reaper, and flashbacks to Winston’s childhood origins. This short certainly comes across entirely as promotional material — it leads directly toward the launch of the game — which makes sense given the game’s imminent release. We hope future shorts will allow these animations to stand on their own two feet, though. As enjoyable as this short is, using these brief glimpses at the world and story of Overwatch only to point people toward a game with no story whatsoever feels like a wasted narrative opportunity.
