Auriel’s hero trailer brings hope to the Nexus
We still don’t have a release date for Auriel, but since the Heroes of the Storm PTR didn’t go live this week, it’s unlikely she’ll be appearing next week. However, we do have a cinematic trailer for the game’s latest Support hero that gives us an up-close look of her abilities in action.
But, honestly, the trailer doesn’t do much to excite. Compared to recent trailers for Gul’dan and Chromie, which presented short, narrative stories about the heroes, Auriel’s trailer is more like watching a Quick Match (albeit a Quick Match with hero narration). Blah, blah, blah hope, blah, blah, blah don’t fall to despair… there’s just nothing particularly unexpected in Auriel’s introduction.
But check out the trailer below to judge for yourself.
Perhaps the real disappointment is the change to Auriel’s voice, which seems to have both a different voice actor and a different sound effect applied. It’s not as odd as Nova’s Widowmaker skin looking exactly like Widowmaker but having Nova’s voice, but it is a bit jarring if you’re used to the Diablo version of Auriel. But if we look at Tyrael, the only other Archangel in the Heroes ranks, we have both the same voice and voice effects as in Diablo itself.
However, we’re still excited to see a new Support joining the Heroes ranks and look forward to seeing her in the Nexus in the next few weeks. Until then, don’t fall to despair, Nephalem!
