The Queue: Plant life

Welcome back to The Queue, our daily Q&A feature for all of Blizzard’s games! Have a question for the Blizzard Watch staff? Leave it in the comments!

I’m not sure who they’ve got over at Blizzard working on plant models — but whoever they are, they managed to one-up the gorgeousness of Draenor’s plant life from last expansion. I didn’t think that was possible. We’ve come a very, very long way from the trees of vanilla — anyone remember those? They were just a series of flat panes that looked really, really fake when you got up close. I don’t know where we’re going next expansion, but I’m hoping wherever it is, it’s got a lot of plants.

CAPTAIN CAKEWALK ASKED:

Q4tQ: Seeing as I hate Gul’Dan about as much as I love messing around with technology and sleeping most of the day I was wondering, what character in WoW, bad guy or otherwise, do you just flat out love to hate?

I can’t really say there’s a character out there that I “hate” — but I guess I’m looking at it from a slightly different perspective. I think a good story thrives on conflict, and even the most dastardly of villains are kind of necessary in that aspect. So even if I don’t like what they’re doing, I kind of appreciate the character, if that makes sense. Maybe that’s where the whole “love to hate” part comes in — in that case, I’d have to say Garrosh, and I’m kind of sad he’s gone. He was a jerk, but he played that role really, really well. It was really fun seeing his progression from those long-ago days of Burning Crusade all the way through to Mists.

RAYDIVATHEWRITER ASKED:

Question for the Queue: Not sure if this has been asked but since I haven’t been able to find it figured it couldn’t hurt to ask. Are all the Class Hall and/or Artifact Weapon quests considered canon? Reason why I am asking is due to what happened on the way to get the Kingslayers. Lets just say I will never look at the Night Watch the same way again when lvling a new character.

Yes and no — yes in terms of things that happen over the course of the story, and not necessarily in regards to your character being the one to do it. Usually Blizzard just writes off the player character with a generic “a hero” or “a group of heroes,” rather than identifying anyone directly. This allows players to just self-insert their own character in that spot. So the things that happened along the course of any of the Order Hall quest chains — including that stuff with the Night Watch — are canon. Pretty much everything in the game is canon, unless Blizzard specifically states otherwise.

FYRESPARXX ASKED:

Do you think a world soul could be possessed? Not just corrupted.

I don’t really have an answer to that one. We know that the Void Lords sent the Old Gods into the universe to corrupt a world-soul, but thus far, they haven’t been successful — or at least we don’t have any giant universe-ending void Titans out there as evidence of any such thing. Since they just introduced this whole world-soul concept, there isn’t exactly a ton of information out there about it just yet.

@FIZZL_CTR ASKED VIA TWITTER:

Top 3 picks for alternate Lucio skins in Heroes. GO!

I’d love to see both the Striker and Slapshot skins ported over from Overwatch (I mean, it’d go right along with all the other heroes flinging volleyballs and basketballs around) — and I would really like to see the Ribbit skin carry over, too. Not the gold one, the silver and teal one. It’s one of my favorites!

But if you’re talking original skins, some music-related ones would be pretty cool. Like give him a skin that makes him look like a pop star, or a member of KISS — you know, mix up the music genres for the skins.

@OMEDON66 ASKED VIA TWITTER:

Lorewise what do you think the chances are of a “SURPRISE! OLD GODS ARE THE REAL BADGUYS HERE!” later content patch in Legion?

In Legion? Highly unlikely. If that pops up at all, I expect it to just be as a lead-in to the next expansion — sort of like the chunk of Nightmare stuff that dropped off of Archimonde in Warlords. I don’t think we’re going to address the Burning Legion and the Old Gods in a single expansion, unless they plan on keeping said expansion going for another couple of years. To be perfectly honest, I don’t know if we could even address the Old Gods in a single expansion all on their own — there’s a lot of material to work with, there.
