What’s your favorite kind of achievements?

We need more squirrels to love. Wait, hear me out: Way back in Wrath, achievements were added to the game. Along with a host of perfectly sane achievements was one oddball titled, appropriately enough, To All The Squirrels I’ve Loved Before. The premise behind this achievement was simple enough: Find a critter. Target it, and use the /love emote on it. Fill out the entire list, and poof — achievement is complete. In patch 3.0.8, another was added on the heels of the first: To All The Squirrels Who Shared My Life.

To All The Squirrels Who Cared for Me made its arrival in Cataclysm, and Mists saw the arrival of To All The Squirrels I Once Caressed? — which marked the end of the chain. Look, I’m not saying these were noteworthy achievements. In fact, they’re just a series of terrible puns. An excuse, some would say, to simply travel the world and love some critters. But I really like these kinds of achievements. Well Read is another favorite, requiring players to travel around the world, find books and read them.

Don’t get me wrong — I like raid and dungeon achievements, too. But achievements like Higher Learning and other hunt-and-find tasks are some of my favorites. Most of these are in the general section of the achievements tab. However…there’s been an absence of new weird achievements for quite some time now. Nothing new for Legion, other than the usual armor level achievements.  I’m a little sad that we seem to be veering away from the strange and unusual — those are the achievements I like best.

What about you guys? What kind of achievements are your favorites? Do they need rewards to be satisfying? Have you found every squirrel on Azeroth and professed your /love? What new achievements would you like to see in future expansions?
