Will you be able to hide your gloves in Battle for Azeroth?

In the Battle for Azeroth beta client, Wowhead has datamined an item with wondrous transmogrification implications: Hidden Gloves. Before the introduction of the transmog system, players hid their hats or helms via a User Interface option. However, it’s now done by transmogrifying a hat into an invisible item automatically added to players’ transmog collections. Those items are the Hidden Helm and Hidden Shoulder respectively. With the datamined Hidden Gloves, it’s possible we’ll be able to disable our glove appearance, too.

Personally, I’m thrilled by this news — and would be even more thrilled if we can eventually hide Bracers, too. Neither bracers nor gloves ever get particularly impressive models worth showing off, and often, gloves (and bracers) can ruin a really elegant, fashionable look. Take the Night Elves at the top of this post. The Mooncloth Robe has been the iconic Night Elf Priestess style since classic World of Warcraft, yet it’s impossible to recreate as a player. My Priest’s hands are burdened with a hideous mess of dark blue straps because there were few other minimalist options. Even the Exiled Dabbler’s Gloves, often recommended as an invisible option for gloves, still includes a cuff around the wrist.

As far as I’m concerned, the only armor slots that should be required at this point is a shirt and pants — and even then, I might argue the point. Demon Hunter tattoos (as well as the new Lightforged and their tattoos) are a good argument for letting them disable their chestpiece entirely. And there are a number of cloth robes with slits down the side that reveal a character’s legs, such as the Nightsky Robe or Robe of Insight. You can find pants options which are mostly invisible in these cases, so rather than making players jump through hoops, just let us turn them off.

If someone wants to go full barbarian and run around with a giant two-handed weapon in nothing but their underpants… well, more power to ’em. Don’t worry about it so much.
