Off-Topic: Apex Legends’ Battle Pass is here with a ton of rewards (for a price)
Apex Legends will finally get its first Battle Pass tomorrow, and with it comes a whole slew of rewards for simply playing the game.
If you don’t play Fortnite or other Battle Royale games, Battle Pass systems let you buy into a seasonal system — we don’t know how long seasons last in Apex Legends yet — and earn rewards for completing challenges. For Apex Legends, you simply have to play the game and level up to earn each consecutive reward — which includes everything from skins to banner accessories.
The Apex Legends season one Wild Frontier Battle Pass will cost you $10, or 950 Apex Coins, if you choose to buy 1000 from the Origin store. From then on, you’ll earn a reward for every level from one to 100. It’s important to note that tucked inside the rewards are 1000 Apex Coins, so you can purchase the next Battle Pass for free if you play enough. You can also buy the Battle Pass Bundle that also includes 25 levels unlocked instantly for 2800 Apex Coins.
As long as you play during the season with or without the Battle Pass, you’ll receive a skin, five Apex Packs, and 18 Wild Frontier stat trackers.
The rewards are all exclusive to this season and will be unobtainable as soon as the second season starts. You can purchase the Battle Pass at any point in the season and it will retroactively reward you based on how many seasonal levels you’ve earned too — handy if you don’t quite have enough coins yet.
The season also marks the introduction of a new playable Legend to the game, named Octane. We’ve seen leaked images of them around and possibly their jump pad ultimate in the game, but we don’t know much about them yet.
On Reddit, Respawn Entertainment’s Community Manager Jay Frechette said, “While we think there’s really cool design space in quests and challenges for future Battle Passes, we wanted the initial version to allow our players to just play and learn the game.” Unlike Fortnite, Apex Legends’ first Battle Pass only asks you to play the game instead of completing a list of specific tasks. It’s a smart choice for a new game that simply wants players to learn and have fun.
