How to get the Hearthstone anniversary Fiery Hearthsteed mount in World of Warcraft

As the Hearthstone Year of the Pegasus begins, Blizzard is celebrating a big anniversary (10 years of Hearthstone) and they’re throwing a party dedicated to honoring the game’s past and future. Delightfully, one of the rewards is a crossover for World of Warcraft: the Fiery Hearthsteed mount. Let’s review how to get the Hearthstone anniversary event’s new World of Warcraft retail mount, the Fiery Hearthsteed, between March 11 and May 14.

Luckily, the process is incredibly simple and depends only on your answer to a question: Have you played Hearthstone before?

• If NO, I’ve never played Hearthstone — No worries, friend! Install the app on your mobile phone (Android or iOS) or on your Windows or Mac computer via the Battle.Net client. Launch the game and complete the tutorial. Congrats, you’ve earned the mount.
• If YES, I am a Hearthstone regular — Excellent, this is even easier for you. Launch Hearthstone during the March 11 to May 14 window. You should have the mount next time you log into WoW.

While the “no additional purchase necessary” caveat always comes with these rewards, it’s important to remember that the mount is only available on your World of Warcraft retail subscription. You will not see its fiery brilliance in Classic titles, much to the sorrow of folks prepping for the launch of Cataclysm Classic. And, of course, you will need an active World of Warcraft subscription to log in and see the mount in your account.

There’s also an hourly event in-game in World of Warcraft in the inns in Orgrimmar, Stormwind, and Valdrakken (involving lots of other rewards) to honor Hearthstone‘s big milestone. Those are restricted to higher-level characters in retail WoW, but since this celebration is two months long, you definitely have time to get there.

Crossover event rewards are definitely special little touches for players in Blizzard’s universe. Things like mounts and battle pets themed after Hearthstone, Diablo, and StarCraft are a special form of fan service to WoW players — a message of “hey, we see you, and we’re excited you enjoy lots of our games.” So pop into Hearthstone between March 11 and May 14 to earn the newest reward, the Fiery Hearthstone mount.
