Introducing Juno, the new Support Hero for Overwatch 2

Overwatch 2 Juno

Overwatch 2 has been teasing a new Support hero for the past month. You may have seen something streaking over the sky in-game on a few of the maps, and then a ship “landed” in Dorado. Finally, over this past weekend, Juno debuted in a limited time preview event from Jul 19-21. And now we’ve got a good look at her her kit which borrows from several other support heroes like Ana’s damage/heal shot, Mercy’s heal and damage boost, and Lucio’s speed boost. Check it out below.

What are Juno’s abilities and ultimate?

Mediblaster

Her primary fire weapon is the Mediblaster. It’s a burst fire weapon that heals allies and damages enemies, which is very reminiscent of Ana’s rifle. When pointed at allies, the blaster has a smiley face, and when pointed at enemies, it has an angry face.

Pulsar Torpedoes

Her secondary fire weapon is the Pulsar Torpedoes; these can lock onto allies for heals, enemies for damage, or a combination of both. You must have a line of sight for the weapon to lock on and then you can fire. Two things to look out for: while activated you cannot use the primary fire and this weapon has a 10-second cooldown.

Glide Boost

Juno’s first ability is Glide Boost, which increases her speed and range. And due to her Martian Overboots passive, she can double jump and glide through the air as you can glide with Mercy. She cannot. however, move vertically up and down while gliding.

Hyper Ring

Her second ability is the Hyper Ring, an ability that opens a large portal on the map the entire team can speed through. The Hyper Ring stacks with other movement abilities up to 75% of the speed limit of the game. This ability has a 16-second cooldown.

Orbital Ray – Ultimate

Finally, her ultimate, the Orbital Ray, is a game-changer when played at the right moment. When she calls it down to the point at her location, it moves forward 16 meters from the direction she’s facing, simultaneously providing healing and a damage boost to her team. This unique combination, similar to Mercy’s ultimate but with a twist, could be the key to quickly turning the tide of a battle, helping your team capture the point or escape a tight spot. And when combined with other heroes’ ultimates, like Kiriko’s that buffs allies movement, attack speed, and ability cooldowns, it could create a potent synergy that could change the course of the game.

Overall, Juno feels well-balanced and less overpowered than some supports when they were first introduced; looking at you, Brigitte, and Lifeweaver! Hopefully, you got a chance to play this hero before the end of the trial period this last weekend. But if not, she will be available to all players on August 20 when Season 12 launches.
