Should you collect Radiant Echoes gear for your WoW Remix characters?
Over the past two months, you’ve braved all that Mists of Pandaria: Remix has to offer — you’ve taken on Jan-xi and Qin-xi in Mogu’shan Vaults, you’ve bested not only the Sha of Fear but also Grand Empress Shek’zeer, you put a stop to Lei Shen (and broke Ra-den free of his chains) and even brought an end to the tyranny of Garrosh Hellscream. You’ve collected Bronze, purchased all of the available armor and mounts, and you’ve gotten to max item level and can solo entire raids.
You, my dear reader, are a walking raid boss. Or you were a walking raid boss, right until WoW Remix ended.
That said, why should you consider doing Radiant Echoes for your powerhouse of a character? Surely once your character gets ported over into the live instance of the game before The War Within launches, you’ll be all set to start your adventures, right?
Remix characters were brought into the live game with a set item level of 467 gear so long as the character has reached level 70 — lower level characters received level-appropriate gear. This item level was set so that each Remix character would be coming into the live game on equal footing. Unfortunately, this means that if you’ve took the time to max out your Remix character to their maximum item level, you’re rather less godly than you were before.
Thankfully, with recent changes to the Radiant Echoes event, it’s much easier to collect Residual Memories to trade in towards ilevel 480 Warbound gear, which is better (though not hugely better) than what you’ll have coming out of Remix. And for any other neglected alts, it should be simple to bring them up to par with your new Remists alts.
All Radiant Echoes bosses now spawn multiple times an hour in each active zone (so long as players continue to do the event), meaning you have a chance to get 1,400 Residual Memories per boss kill on top of the now account-bound daily quest to kill each of the three bosses. Each boss kill quest rewards 3,000 Residual Memory (that’s on top of the 1,400 Residual Memory for killing the boss), which gives you an easy 13,000 Residual Memory each day for just doing three bosses.
I mention this here because if you were unlucky enough that you never got a single piece of loot for your spec, it would cost (if my math is correct) 49,000 Residual Memories to buy an entire set of gear. If nothing else, you could do the event for four days and get a full set of 480 gear for your brand new main.
Even better, this gear should last you until between levels 73-75 in The War Within, so you’re well set for the expansion.
