Want to grab some last minute transmog before The War Within? We have suggestions.
With less than two weeks left before Early Access begins, there’s still time to get your transmog game locked down going into The War Within. We’ve touched on these a few times in the previous couple months, but as we’re in the final days before a new expansion and folks are restless, it’s a good time to bring them back up again. That said, here’s a few ideas on how to pass the next two weeks when you need a break from farming Radiant Echoes.
Use LFR to collect Antique Bronze Bullion
While it’s tempting to spend those Antique Bronze Bullion on items to gear up your character, if you’re sitting at over item level 480 you’re good to go heading into The War Within. Instead, power into LFR and collect your missing Antique Bronze Bullion, and head on over to Mirioszin in the Parting Glass Inn within Valdrakken. Mirioszin sells cosmetic weapons from each raid tier, which is great if you absolutely love the mythic tier coloring but couldn’t get a group together to farm mythic raids (or you never upgraded a heroic weapon to the first Mythic level). Unfortunately there’s not a vendor who sells cosmetic only transmog of the item sets, but Mirioszin also sells Jigglesworth, Sr. if you need to add another mount to your collection.
The cosmetic-only item appearances only cost 1 Antique Bronze Bullion each, so grab your favorites — or run your alt army through LFR while watching Netflix. I promise not to tell.
Need your Season sets? Good news and bad news.
Phil reported about this a few weeks ago, but it’s worth giving the highlights once again: if you need Vault of the Incarnates normal or heroic coloring, snag the tokens that reward Primalist Gear and slap it into the Revival Catalyst. Amirdrassil normal mode gear can be collected through converting the Emerald Dream weeklies gear in the catalyst. Unfortunately, you’re out of luck if you want Aberrus’s tier sets at this time (unless your class got lucky enough to get that design as your season 4 set).
Thankfully if you do need your Season 4 armor set (or, at least the LFR coloring of it), you can get that running any of the currently awakened raids in LFR! Hey, you’re gonna collect those Antique Bronze Bullion while you’re there anyhow, so you might as well, right?
Need some old transmog? Now’s the time!
Matt reported this at the end of May so it’s a good reminder: patch 10.2.7 introduced some changes that now makes it so that the Battle for Azeroth raids should be easier to solo. While the legacy raid buff isn’t active on Battle for Azeroth‘s raids, I can say from personal experience that you can clear both Uldir and Battle for Dazar’alor if you’re wearing 480 gear. Know that the fights will take some time without the legacy raid buff, but it can be done, so get in there and get those cool weapons from Uldir.
Additionally, with Warbands now being live, this is an amazing time to hit up those Legion and prior raids to catch those transmog sets you might be missing to come up with some new armor drip. We all know the real endgame is transmog anyhow.
PVP is another option, if you’re willing
Some of the PVP armor sets have neat recolors of the tier sets they’re based on, and you can buy these with Marks of Honor. Pop into Valdrakken and snag the quest Gotta Go Fast from Malicia in Gladiator’s Refuge. All you need to do is complete a match of Battleground Blitz and win or lose, you get 5 Marks of Honor. If you have a bunch of Honor just wasting away, you can also trade 2000 Honor to Seltherex for an Orboreal Distinguishment, which will give you another 5 Marks of Honor. The PVP World Quests will also give you a mark of honor on completion, so quickly you can gather 12 to snag a PVP appearance of your choice.
Know that these sets are sold by the PVP vendors from their respective expansions (and the Dragonflight PVP sets wont hit the vendors until some time in The War Within) so you may need to travel to another city to collect your prize.
Want some really old stuff? Unlock old Scholomance and Naxxramas.
This was a change that happened a year ago that I actually forgot about, so it’s a good thing to bring up now while people have spare time. Back in patch 10.1.5, Blizzard brought back a way to run the original Scholomance instance, and get into Naxxramas. The steps are fairly involved and cost a pretty good amount of gold, but if you’re absolutely dying to get your hands on The Earthshatterer tier set, well, Phil has you covered.
Of course, there’s also making sure you get some last minute Bronze before Remix: Mists of Pandaria ends, but that’s about it. I know I plan on diving into some older raids this weekend as I am still chasing down the mythic shaman sets from Antorus and the Nighthold, but what about you? Chasing anything specific before it’s time to journey into new lands?
